Hi,
I am probably asking something that has been asked before, but a quick search didn't find an answer. I have a folder on my PC that contains all the training lessons, PDF's and Quicktime movies from the online Photoshop Elements Training lessons. This folder also shows up in the Organizer.
I want to backup this folder to a cd. I can't seem to find a way to do this from the Organizer, which would allow me to remove the files from the hard drive and keep thumbnails listed in Organizer for future reference.
I am perfectly capable of doing this from another backup program, but wanted to try this from the Organizer. Also, any backups created from the Organzer seem to want to backup an entire catalog, instead of a single folder.
I know, this was long winded, but I wanted to give all information I could. Thank you in advance for all help.

Hi John,
I want to backup this folder to a cd. I can't seem to find a way to do this from the Organizer, which would allow me to remove the files from the hard drive and keep thumbnails listed in Organizer for future reference.

The Move / Copy option under Backup does this... If you select just this folder in Organizer, using Move / Copy will backup just those files to cd.

Then, if you chose the option to delete the files from your hard drive (a window comes up during the backup process), the full resolution images will be deleted from your hard drive and replaced by a thumbnail. If you select one of these files in PSE3 later, you will be prompted for the backup disc.

Hope this helps.

Mike,

Thanks for your help. I had tried to do this, but it did not seem to back up the movies and the pdf's. Am I wrong? I didn't go all the way through with the copy/move function.

John,

You can't add pdf files to Organizer - only images, video and audio files so this won't work for the pdfs. But Move / Copy does work for the videos.

Mike,

Again, thank you. I was afraid of that. I will have to use another method.
