Merry Christmas Everyone!
I finally think it might be time to download an addon, but don't really know where to put them. Is there some way of knowing where a particular addon should go if the effect is not so apparent as a brush, etc.

Carol: There are lots of different types of add-ons so it does depend on what you have in mind. Do you have anything specific you were looking at? It's not too difficult once you know what type of add-on you want to add and what version of Elements you have. Many have instructions however in a lot of cases they haven't been updated to include PSE5 and that is very different from earlier versions.
You also might want to take a look at Graffi's Add-O-Matic which automates the process of sorting out what goes where in PSE5:

Hi Tony. I tried downloading Panos' cubic into Special Effects, but couldn't get it to work. I happened upon Graffi's Add-o-Matic yesterday and haven't had a chance to check out the website. I'm pretty new at all of this......so is Graffi's Add-o-Matic an answer to all my prayers? Will it put everything where it needs to go? Carol

I've been dumping stuff into a thread here (http://www.graficalicus.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=788) - some shapes, brushes, styles, etc. It's sort of a grab bag of things I've made (and I'll just keep dropping stuff here as I make it), so some is crap, some is decent, and all of 'em are free (!)
There's also a free goodies section here (http://www.graficalicus.com/graffishop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=4) - more brushes, shapes, styles, etc....

Carol: I don't know about being the answer to all your prayers and I must admit I still do it the old fashioned way by dropping the unzipped action into a folder in Special Effects. Once you've done a few it's very easy - worth persisting with that cube effect to get it working and then you'll find it easy to add more. Like Wendy said - unzip it first - then move the unzipped atn file into a folder you've made (like Panos Effects) in Special Effects.

Sorry I've been slow in responding, but my connection keeps getting broken. My husband's trying a wireless router on my computer and we're having problems. Anyway, after my first few attempts at downloading, my husband asked me if I had been unzipping the file....I said "huh"...anyway, I recently learned that trick and appreciate your help. When I get home from work tonight, I'll download Graffi's addon and continue on my quest to become "adequate" at this...... Carol
