I had the tools and had a problem so I want to download them again.

Anyway, he says to put them in preview/effects/ under program files.
But I don't have a preview folder. Mine is PE5/plugins/effects/.

Am I missing something because I haven't had any problems with my app. But now I'm wondering. I don't want to download in the wrong folder.

HELP! I have spent hours and read multiple posts thinking I have missed some tad of information. I have the tools showing in my directory but when going into PSE5 and looking for them........nothing. I did download them without having PSE5 running. I have the tools place in the following path. C:/Documents Settings/All Applications/All Users/Application Data/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/5.0/Photo Creations/Special Effects/Photo Effects.......... Please, can someone help me?

Thanks in advance...

Mine are in C:/Documents Settings/All Applications/All Users/Application Data/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/5.0/Photo Creations/Special Effects/, one folder above yours and work fine. You will have to restart PSE to have it work. Try that and let us know if it worked.

Hi Linda ...

I suspect that its simply that you need to restart Elements :)

Do let us know if that solves it ...

Still not able to get Grant's Tools to show up, and I had shut down the program repeatedly so that is not helping either. The actions are in the directory but I they will not show up in the program when running. I have now uninstalled and reinstalled PSE5 thinking I had a problem with the program. I'm still working on this and going no where fast.

Don't put them in Photo Effects - put them in their own folder in the same directory as Photo Effects, i.e.,

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\5.0\Photo Creations\special effects

I don't have this set, but the directory structure should look like

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\5.0\Photo Creations\special effects\Grant\<thumbs.psd; *.atn>

and most definitely not

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\5.0\Photo Creations\special effects\Grant\<some_file.zip>

or

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\5.0\Photo Creations\special effects\Grant\Another Folder\Yet another folder\<thumbs.psd; *.atn>

This just gets more complicated the more I do. I uninstalled my version of PSE5 and downloaded the "tryout" from the adode site. If I follow the path of C:/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/Adobe/........from here it goes to: Acrobat/ 7.0/Replicate/catalog folders/My Catalog/My Catalog-1/ Catalogs/Updater/Certs/Adobe Systems/Product Licenses. Now if I go to to the file under my first and last name the path is as follows: Application Data/Adobe/Acrobat/7.0/Distiller 7/Camera Raw/Color/ESD/Online Services/Photoshop Elements/5.0/Edit/Browser/acpo
/cache4/sesssions/skin/Organizer/Updater/XMP. I have no
"creations" or "Special effects" folders I have gone in and checked in Add/Remove Programs and it shows Adobe Photoshop 5.0 is there with a size of 307M. Am I suppose to download the zip files, open them up and the "Creations/Special Effects" will pop up? This program is giving me the most problems I've ever had installing any program. My patience is wearing thin.

Linda,

If I read all of the posts in this thread correctly and then read your last post, I don't think you're getting to the right place. You're following the path correctly up to .........../Adobe/, then you veer off. You went to Acrobat after Adobe. You need to go to Photoshop Elements, then 5.0, then Photo Creations, then Special Effects.

about the best I can tell you is reinstall PSE5 (the full copy, not a tryout - there's no sense in installing a tryout when you've got the real deal!)

Follow carefully the path I mentioned above - you somehow got into the Acrobat folders instead of the Elements folder, like Sissy said -

copy what I posted earlier, and paste it directly into your browser's address bar - it'll open the folder you need to be in -

*I'm always hoping that someone besides me will mention Handy Actions (which are linked in my sig below) - they install themselves automatically - just unzip, run the exe file, click "Install' and done. Not free like Grant's, though...

I would also recommend Add-O-Matic, which will install all the other things you'll probably be adding over time - brushes, styles, shapes, gradients, etc. - Add-O-Matic installs them for you with a click-n-drag-n-click.

Sissy - That was the whole point of why I was posting.......it doesn't have Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 where it should be. PSE5 shows up under a file with my name on it. I am buying a new copy tomorrow. My sister wants to put it on the family desktop, right now she has it on her laptop. I'm going to invest the money and have my own.....and she can keep hers.

Grafi - I do have your samples and yes, they were sooooo easy to install. Yes, I most likely will buy the Add-o-Matic as I'm tired of messing with software try to get it in the right places.

Thanks everyone who has posted their comments. If all goes well tomorrow I'll make a post that I am once again a happy camper. It it doesn't go well, I'll be the one in the corner sobbing.

Will the Add-O-Matic install Grants actions and other non-Graffi add-ons? Very interested in purchasing it. I just watched the podcast video on how it works, and it looks like THE answer for all of us!

Will the Add-O-Matic install Grants actions and other non-Graffi add-ons?

yes - - HOWEVER! - - packages like Grant's are better installed using the directions provided with the pack. Add-O-Matic WILL install actions correctly, but without thumbnails (if you want to reorganize the actions & create thumbs for them, there's a walkthrough here (http://www.graficalicus.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=250))

It will install them to a location in the Effects section of the Artwork & Effects palette in a dropdown called "Added Effects". It's not really intended for adding entire packs, though - it's more for adding a one-off action you want to try rather than a full effects package (like Panos', for example) - for those, use the instructions they provide.

The Graffi packs install themselves, BTW - Add-O-Matic installs actions, shapes, styles, plugins, etc., as fast as you can drag them into the utility and click the "GO!" button.

Okay, I have the add-o-matic and the handy action 2 in my shopping cart (along with the free brush maker), and I am ready to push order button, but a question first if that's okay:

Do I download the add-o-matic first and then put the handy actions 2 (and brush maker) inside the add-o-matic to download them?

Thanks and sorry for the extra questions. Hope you do mind them here, as opposed to your forum. Thanks Graffi!

p.s. Awhile back, I had trouble installing your filters; they never showed up in my PSE5. I am hoping these will work though!

no prob posting here - - the graffi forums are pretty quiet most of the time...

You can download them all at once - they're separate files. None of them depend on any others to run- they're all stand-alone!

Both the Brushmaker & Handy Actions have inside their respective zip files an .exe file - that's the installer. Drag it out to your desktop, and double-click it to start the install - it'll do everything for you - -

Add-O-Matic doesn't install anywhere - it's a utility that runs whenever you want it to -

Inside the zip is a .pdf with the info about it, and the .exe file that runs the utility. Extract the .exe to your MyDocuments folder, and let it live there forever - then, in your My Documents folder, right-click the Add-O-Matic icon and choose the option "Pin to Start Menu" - this will link it to your Start menu, creating a shortcut for you, so whenever you need to run it, you can just click Start>Add-O-Matic - simple! :D

Hi all, I have a problem similar to those raised here but with a slight difference. I bought a book "adobe photoshop elements 5.0 - unleash the hidden performance of elements - maximum performance by Mark Galer" it comes with a dvd. He wants us to copy over some effects from the dvd to the following : my computer, c drive, documents and settings, all users, application data, adobe, photoshop elements, 5.0, photo creations. I have one major problem after I get as far as "all users" my computer does not show the rest i.e. application data etc. . Would anyone have any ideas what I should do as I have tried different things for the last 4 hours to no avail. Any advice gratefully received.

click, on any windows folder,

Tools>Folder Options...

In there, click open the View tab

Find the section concerning Hidden Files and Folders, and tick it on to SHOW hidden files & folders.

The mystery directories will magically appear! ;)

Thankyou ,thankyou ,thankyou, Graficalicus you do not know how long I have spent trying to figure that out, you probably saved me another couple of days trying everything. I thought my computer was too old or something. You are a star, if I could buy you a drink I would.
