I store most photos on ext hard drive (note: some photos are held only in backup). Hard drive not on all of the time.

When photos initially stored, the PSE read the ext drive in path "E:"

Now when I startup ext drive, it is recognized by WinXP as another drive (e.g. "H:"). As a result PSE doesn't see photos.

How do I change drive path of ext hard drive so PSE, "sees" the photos?

I assume this will also avoid long reconnect process

Hi

Welcome to the forums.:)

Changing the letter is fairly straightforward. The big questions is why did it change in the first place?
My guess would be a thumbdrive or card reader was plugged in and the computer was rebooted with your EHD unplugged or off.

Go to "my computer" right click and pick "manage", expand the Storage list and pick "Disk Management". In the lower right window find your external dive.. right click again and pick "change drive letter and paths".
Change the letter there.. but make sure no other drive has the same letter or else it will be a mess.:D

Hope this helps.
