I'm new to this photograghy stuff. i have owned my camera for about 3 months now and have >2000 pics. Do most people just store them in elements, burn to disc then erase or upload to gllery site? :?:

I used to burn them to CD right after I offloaded them from the camera as a backup. Then I bought an external hard drive, so now they go straight to the external and that gets backed up once a month to DVD.

I do recommend keeping copies somewhere other than your computer. A virus or hard drive failure can wipe out years of effort.

Hi Gale

I think you will find most people backing up their photos one way or another.
The most popular methods are saving/burning to cd/dvd or an external hard drive.

The nice thing about digital is that you don't have to save everything. You only have to save the photos you want. You can toss the one of the floor, that was taken accidentally, when you were looking at some dial on your camera and pressed the shutter.

The bad thing about digital is you want all of them  . With Elements a lot of not so good photos can be turned into really outstanding shots.

Whichever way you decide to backup..DO IT NOW. I would hate to see you lose over 2000 pics because of a computer crash.

Most back up as soon as they download them from the camera/memory card.

Hope this helps a bit
Gary.

I'm a Mac user so I keep my images in iPhoto then back up to an external hard drive ... before that I backed up to CD's.

I do upload to Galleries but usually they need lower resolution images so I use a duplicate for that :)
