Adding The Data/Time Stamp

This may seem like a bit o' a bizzare problem but, I was wondering if there is a way to add a date/time stamp to the digital photographs.

I know you could just add it manually using a text tool but, I was hoping to be able to 'import' this from the file metadata. Ideally, this could be done in a batch mode.
