Using Epson 1270 printer and PSE3, trying to use regular 4x6" paper and accept the resulting borders. (Special Epson 4x6 paper is larger to allow for borders and perforated to cut to 4x6 borderless.)
Printer dialog only shows "Epson Photo Paper 4x6in". I once was able to get a 3.75x5.7in with 3 borders and bleeding off the fourth. Now all prints are cropped. Should I give up and order the special perforated paper?

I use this process with my Epson printers regarding your 4x6 question.
Page setup size 4x6, portrait or landscape
Print Preview
set to type of paper > set to custom > adjust size to fullest without clipping your border.
Print set > set print quality, speed etc... Check the spot for Preview
You can then preview the edges to see if they are clipped, then back the print sized just a bit and preview again.
I keep a record of my printing information for future projects. This seems to save time and a lot errors in the printing process.
You may have to trim the print edges. If you do a lot of this sort of thing a photo trimmer is great tool and not very expensive.
Hope this helps,
John

Thanks. I installed a new printer driver which had "UserDefined" option under paper size, which old driver did not. Set 4"x6" under User Defined paper size.
Since minimum total margins for the Epson (from manual) are 0.67" length, 0.24" width, this gives maximum image size of 3.76"x5.33".

Ron,
Glad you got your problem solved. I have book that I found to be a great reference guide "Mastering Digital Printing" by Harald Johnson. I have had good experiences with my Epson printers and results they produce.
