View Full Version : SmugMug not in PSE 5.0 trial?

Hi,
I just installed the trial version of Photoshop Elements 5. The main reason I consider upgrading is the possibility to upload photos to SmugMug.
But there is no "Send to SmugMug gallery" link available. Is it only because it's the trial version?
I'm in Sweden if that may have anything to do with it, but the trial version is in English.
Thanks!
/Daniel

Hello Daniel
I don't remember a send to Smugmug feature in V5 (nor remember anyone talking about using this link). There have been many posts about having the ability to link to any photo service not just the ones included by Adobe (was Kodak which is now Snapfish?).
You can always create the photos you want in Elements and use your standard Web browser to upload the photos. An extra step, but a tiny one.

Although I don't use it, it is there in my version. There are differences between versions although whether this is one I don't know.

When you open the editor and look up in the tool bar,; do you see the envelope icon? If you do, click on it and it will show send to smugmug.

Aren't the services location-specific? I'm in the UK and I don't get the Smugmug option.

Yes, I see the envelope icon. The only options there are "E-mail" and "E-mail to Mobile Phone".

Hmm, that may explain it, since I'm in Sweden? But why would this not be available in the UK and Sweden?
Can it have anything to do with me using the trial version? Is the trial version location-specific?

I have a smugmug gallery, and I send to my smugmug by using File>export in the organizer. There was something that I downloaded from smugmug (I believe) that makes it very easy to do though a folder on my desktop.

Looks like I was wrong about Smugmug not being an option in V5. Sorry if I misled anyone.

I do this just as Colleen describes.
There is an upload to Smugmug feature in version 5, but it is not worth it to upgrade to version 5 just for that. Version 5 has other great features; that is not one of them. I do not like it at all. If it were like the "send to smugmug" software and you could minimize it, that would be great. But you have to wait while it uploads the photos, and as far as I can see, you cannot keep working in PSE5 while uploading.
Like Colleen, I find the photos I want to upload and I export them to a file on my desktop. I then right-click the folder and select "send to smugmug," then I tell it which gallery, then I hit "ok" and away they go. Meanwhile, I keep working in PSE5 or whatever else, because you can minimize "send to smugmug" while it is doing the uploading.
Here is the link to "send to smugmug" (it is a smugmug supported download):
