Ward- Really like the sea to desert entry. :)

Thank you-it is either a testimony to bad business plans or a severe case of global warming.

Poor Flipper-where did you get the image of the old TV set? I loved it.

Ward- The tv image itself came from Morgue File, and I put it into a shot I took down at the local scrap yard. I thank Grant every day for his Layer Mask add on to PSE3.

...I thank Grant every day for his Layer Mask add on to PSE3.

As do I-the whole water to desert work is simply two layers (original image on top of desert scene) with a mask applied to the original image. I don't know how I could have done the image without Grant's mask.

I got the link and read the rules, etc. but where does it say how to get it there. Do I send it in an e-mail or what?

Rusty

Norma,

It's not real clear. I also sumbitted something for the first time and had a heck of a time trying to figure out how.

When you get on the "main page", click for the "Welcome page" over on the left side. Then, you see in the center, "Submit an Entry". Slide your cursor across the text of that blub and "Challenge Entry" highlights... click that.

Shazam - this opened my email program and there was a new message, properly addressed, ready to go. I attached my image and sent the email.

It ain't very intuitive.

Ward - LOL! Love it!

How long does it take actually for a photo to appear in the contest? I sent one in but haven't seen it yet.

The time it takes varies with Grant's "real life" schedule. It can be hours or a day. Or two.

Norma... everything is good enough to post. :D

The point is to challenge yourself to do something with the image. It can become quite addicting and a huge learning process. There is no right or wrong.

Mine was pretty much a cheat this week
Crop and buzz. Can't get easier than that. ;)
I just felt like I needed to get back in.

BTW... Grant was moving, or maybe he is just bogged down with Christmas.

Anne ... Great panorama and what a good idea. Very nice effect you added to it ... how did you do it? I love the effect in No 2 and once again would really like to know how you did it ??

Alex ... Nice work on removing it in No 1 ... not too easy to remove the reflection but you have done it so well. Oh and the little mermaid makes a really nice addition to No 2

Ben ... Very surreal effect ... looks great !!

Bob ... Oh that is impressive, beautiful effect in No 1 how did you get it to look like that ? ... and No 2 is just so good. Excellent work on the image itself and then turning it into a photograph just finishes it off. Really well done !!

Byron ... Oh very nice minature ... it is a neat effect !!

Charles ... Love the new sign !!

Dave ... Oh the reflection is so well done. How did you do it ?? ... I tried to do one but just couldn't get it to look right . Very nice work !!

Ellen ... Love the snowglobe ... your image looks really good in it. Love the little touches ... the lights, Santa etc ... its just so funny !!

Kimi ... What a beautiful effect I would love to know how you did it ?

Malcolm ... Like the cube ... and good touch changes the colours on the other sides. Its really effective.

Marilyn ... I really enjoy your images, you always bring something totally different to your entries and this one is beautiful !!

Read ... Oh what a neat idea .. very clever !! and nicely done.

Rita ... I love the way you have done the colours and turned it into a painting ... very nice !!

Rusty ... What a fun image. Really made me laugh !!

Sissy ... Wow that is scary .. nice work on it and very well blended in.

Tab ... Nice work on the image, I really like the purple in the reflections and what a great frame.

Tony ... When I first saw yours I though ... just what has he done. Then it collapsed and so did I with laughter ... its great !!

Ward ... Very imaginative use of the image in No 1 and so well done. Nice work on the reflections too :) No 2 just has to be my favourite .. its great fun and such a neat idea.

Wendy: Thanks as usual for your comments - they were all great interpretations. My favorite was your first statue - an ideal place to put the fish and a beautifully clean selection (do I detect the pen at work - I know that's what I used :) )

Norma: Hope to see yours soon - Grant is a bit slow this week - must be busy with other things. Funnily enough that was the first thought that came into my head - usually I start blank. I just selected the fish, cut it out, put it on another layer and used the liquify filter to deflate it. Then cloned in the empty spaces. Finished up as two layers which I used to make an animated GIF in Save for Web.

Thanks for your weekly comments. It looks like your freezing fresh is very topical, given the weather in many parts of the world.

Malcolm-love the cube-is that all hand done or did you use the recently discussed photo cube action in this forum?

Wendy
December 21st, 2006, 04:49 AM
Tony ...

You are perfectly correct about the pen tool ... I don't use anything else for selections nowadays. From the first moment I used the pen tool it was love at first sight !! :)

PS ... the last challenge entry I did was my 499th  Now what can I do for my 500th ???

Thanks for the comments Wendy, and congratulations on your approaching 500th challenge. I liked the seasons you used this week.
I'm not sure if those in the UK know who Flipper was, but it was a TV series in the mid 1960's about a dad (who was a park ranger in the Florida Everglades) and his two boys that had a pet dolphin named Flipper. It was patterned after Lassie where all kinds of situations came up and Flipper saved the day. Flipper talked in Dolphinese, always said the same thing no matter the situation. Kind of annoying when you think about it but entertaining for a kid.

You've been doing this for a while or you have a great imagination. I would never have thought of the liquify filter. And I've never actually animated anything yet in PE so when I get more proficient, I'll have to give it a try. My entry is my first, and very simple (like my imagination), so it doesn't compare to all the ones I've seen. But I thought I'd give it a try and at least try some of the techniques I've learned. Thanks for sharing yours!

Hi Byron ...

It really did come over as being a minature ... its facinating how it changed the image from full scale to small scale.

I have now made a note of the technique :D :D so you will probably see me use it in future challenges :)

Wendy,

Making sure credit is given where due, this thread (http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17304) is where I learned of the technique.

Thanks again Wendy for taking the care and time to comment on everyone's entries. Your seasons passing by are swell.
Others that stand out to me are Tony's animation and Byron's miniature and Bob's photo and Rita's and Ward's desert and ....

Thanks for your kind remarks. The 'look' in #1 is mostly due to the Stylize>Diffuse>Anisotropic filter.
I enjoyed your fountain series -- nice work!
