i have made several custom brushes and now the "define brush" button is greyed out and i can't create any new custom brushes. what happened and how can i get my define brush button to work again?

how can i edit a file of custom brushes and save the changes? every time i try to do this after saving it reverts back to the old file of brushes that includes brushes that i want to delete.

Hi Terra ...

... and wlecome to the forum :)

I suspect that you made the image too large ... a brush cannot exceed 2500 pixels. Try making it a little smaller and see if it works then.

For saving brush sets you need to use the preset manager .... take a look in Wendy's Mini Tutorials (http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3641)
scroll down to the bottom of the first message and you will find a mini tutorial on saving brushes using the preserr manager.

It should help :)

thank you wendy...you solved the mystery. it was all about the image size. is there a limit to the number of custom brushes i can create in elements 4?

Hi ...

So pleased that you are now able to save your brushes :)

There actually isn't a limit to the number you can make but if you have lots of the sets installed then it does slow down the time it takes to open up Elements. You can just keep them in a folder somewhere else and access then via the load command if you make a lot :)
