Thanks Peaches, I had to crop my make believe tripod out of the picture.:D

Kimi,

Your homemade "tripod" worked just fine - the blur you see is just because the camera was focused on the reflection through the mirror... a very nice effect!

Just tell everyone you were "controlling the depth of field" to get it to look that way. ;)

Byron... I was trying to focus on the tree in the mirror. I had my aperture on 22 hoping it would all be in focus. You know what they say... you can't always get what you want. :p

Thanks for the nice words. :D

Kimi,

Does your lens have a DOF scale on it? You might be able to recreate the set-up and use the scale to calculate how far from the tree you need to place your camera so that it is in focus both in front of the lens, and reflected in the mirror.

Then zoom to frame.

New camera. :o
I can't zoom. The only lens I have is a 50mm. I have an 18-200 on order. I have a DOF button on the camera.? I am still so lost. I am just happy when I can actually take a picture. They have classes here in January, hopefully they will make things clearer for me. Meanwhile I will stick with your story... I did it that way on purpose. :p ;) :D

Plenty of good entries again this week.

Tony - You got us off to a good start with your collage. It has a very nice feel for holidays of yesteryear.

Chas - Great photo of your granddaughter... and I'm sure you captured the dream correctly.

Peaches - The sign indeed makes the tree something special, and your granddaughter looks great on the ornament.

Kimi - The international panel of judges rarely fuss:) . Good photos (love the reindeer!), good stories and good improvisation on the tripod.

Steven - Ahhh, the beer fridge! Perfect! (We had a winter ale festival in town last weekend. Announcements began "What says Christmas more than drinking beer in tents?" I couldn't agree more.) I think you're on to something as well using a refrigerator as a light box. Very clever.

Ellen - What a cool card ... and a nice sharp photo as well. As always, a nice entry!

Gary - I like them both! The abstract is my favorite though. The colors are perfect and the motion speaks volumes about the pace of the season. Very nice.

Congratulations to everyone for finding a minute or two this time of year to grab a photo!

Thanks Bill

All done in the camera... out of focus tree lights and the tripod swivel effect for the blur. It took a few tries, but that's what this is all about.:D

Yes Bill... thanks for the nice compliments.:D

There were very few entries this week. I wonder how many we will have the week after Christmas with all the new goodies Santa is bringing.

Hopefully we will pull in a bunch of newbies. :)

Bill, the pressure will be on you to come up with an easy yet intriguing theme.

Again... Thanks for taking the time to post this for us every week.
