Someone please explain.
Is this an anything goes week?
I have taken some time away and was waiting for an image. I seem to remember reading that Grant deserved a reward for hosting 200 challenges. I could not agree more. Thank You So Much Grant!! :D

Now..... help??????

Kimi,
This would be a great place and time to do something special with the brushes I've downloaded. Now, if I could only get them to work....???? Is there a tut somewhere about using brushes? The video in the subscribers area didn't help me much.

Oh I though everyone knew ...create a poster or award to honour photoshop elements ... as sort of free form and a very broad one at that ....

If I recall correctly (not that I have to recall, because I know where to look (http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16882&page=2)), Jack proposed, and Ward seconded, that #201 be a "Challenging Award" or a Thank You to Grant -- for his immeasurable contribution to the community of PSE users.

I, for one -er- three, think it's a grand idea to honour Grant!! (beyond sticking an extra "u" into words like "honor") :p

Ellen
December 7th, 2006, 10:45 PM
I'm newly back from various problems and love the idea to thank Grant with or with out that pesky u.

Grant
December 7th, 2006, 11:54 PM
Please don't thank Grant, thank all the people that take part in the Challenges.....the are the true Superhero ...

I go for honouring Grant ... without all his help and hard work we wouldn't have a Challenge to play with ..

Since Byron had a much classier way to toast and hono(u)r Grant and all of the challenges and challenged than I did here's another toast image I found.

Wow - what a creative week so far. I love this. Everyone is being really creative. Tony I love the placque and Wendy the collage of challenges is awesome.

Kimi - the ice storm had left me powerless for a few days and I have been really busy catching up so I haven't had much time to be here.

Nancy: Thanks - I was really struggling to come up with something - I'm not good at working with a blank document. Then driving home I passed that plaque and remembered I had a picture of it somewhere that I could do something with. Took longer to find the picture and the font that matched the original than it did to change the words on the plaque :)

Wendy, you are so kind to make comments on our entries. I especially liked your stained glass.
Bob's and Tony's were others that stick in my brain... oh yeah and Nancy's and... well, just about all of them really.
I guess we should just all accept that we all deserve a toast at least.

My browser (IE7) hung the 4 or 5 times I tried to see your work. I've no idea why.

Thanks for the comments Wendy. I don't know what I was thinking; I have had some health issues of late where I have forgot how to sleep. Quite odd and I was going to stay out of this challenge but since it was for Grant I wanted to do something. Hopefully he will see it as a contribution from a sleep deprived individual with an odd sense of humor.
Liked all of yours, as I always do.

Ellen,

I'm having the same problem w/IE7.0. It must have different security settings for Flash files from IE6.0. I checked flash files on some webs I run and they run fine (show) fine. The files I submitted a couple weeks ago came up fine in the forum but since I updated to 7.0, it would not open. I haven't had time to explore the IE 7.0 settings yet. If someone knows a quick fix, let us know. I thought it might be the phising filter but that does not appear to be the case.
I recently updated to Flash Player 9.0. That may have something to do with it also but the files tested ok in the IE7.0 Browser

Wendy, since you appear to have been able to view the file, could you confirm your browser?

Thanks

Ellen
December 13th, 2006, 10:10 PM
Thanks Jack, all I could think of was the phishing filter too.

Yipes Steven! Being sleep deprived is awful, especially when we are having such good sleeping weather. Hope you get back to normal and can enjoy your photo challenge.

Grant has a great sense of humour .... and he will love it !! :)

You should ask him about his visit to England and his experinces with Scrumpy (Scrumpy is strong rough cider ... with an incredible kick)

Wendy...........

Thanks for your comment, but I think that you're being a bit charitable in my case. I was so disappointed that I couldn't seem to come up with anything special for this 'special' challenge, but I wanted to make sure that I had at least an entry in for this week. It is actually just a photo of some bark on a tree that I've played around with a little with some blend modes and filters. Text has been warped.

The looser theme this week inspired a variety of great images.

ANNE T: Is that a Vigeland statue? It reminds me of the statuary park outside Oslo -- great choice.

BEN M: #1 fits the theme best, but I like the more understated version in #2, too. Is that halftone lines tilted at 45 degrees?

BYRON G: Simple and elegant -- putting the brandy snifter in half shadow is brilliant.

CHARLES Y: The alligatored paint is a great background surface.

ELLEN H: The cap embroidery and the map of Nova Scotia are cool additions to Laurel & Hardy.

JACK S: Unfortunately, IE wouldn't display your animation.

MALCOLM D: An image, like a word, means what you want it to mean (or so I recall from Alice).

MARILYN L: A great set of image arrays from the past -- great critters and romantic ladies all.

NANCY M: Nicely done magazine cover -- a great job of matching fonts. The gradient and the sunflower drop shadow are cool touches.

PAT C: Good work on the metallic look for the plaque.

RED S: Nice montage -- and that kilt!

RITA G: The flower bearers and banner carriers are cool reminders of past challenges.

ROBYN L: Wonderful texture and overlay technique.

TAB A: Interesting play with perspective.

TOM M: The Hammurabi stele is perfect for the Laws of Dixon -- the sunset background scheme is terrific.

TONY W: Nice job reworking the historical plaque.

WARD G: Love the toolbars on the spokes in #1.

WENDY W: The stained glass reminded me of some of your earlier masterworks -- have to go with the gingerbreadman as my favorite here, though -- just the touch for the season.

Chas-I thought you might have been talking about my entry, but then I thought I might be missing something in Wendy's entry. Glad Wendy jumped in and straightened it out.

Just FYI-The colored bars/numbers started out as a different idea that looked better in my mind than it did on the screen. I tried to save it with the note background.

Ward,
As for color by the numbers.....I really didn't pay close enough attention to Wendy's submission. I glanced at the numbers thinking they had some color significance to them.....like the numbers in some of Wendy's tutorials.
BTW all of the submissions for challenge #201 were just fantastic!

Grant -

A case of the heebie jeebies and some battles with the weather left me without enough creativity or productivity to submit an entry last week. I do want to say thanks for the efforts you put in to the challenge each week and congrats to you and all of those who participate on a great milestone.

Bill
