I have been working on recreating my catalog. I was initially having trouble with the OCDB (or something like that). I did a recover and everything seemed fine. I had to move PSE4 to my external hd due to space, but have left my pictures on the pc hd. I started from scratch importing my pictures, and when I first started it worked like a charm, then it began acting up. Initially it would import all folders/subfolders on whichever main folder I chose. Then as I progressed through my harddrive, it started only importing some and not others. It initially would allow me to open the folder, highlight all pictures in the folder, and then import them. Now it won't import a particular folder located within a primary folder. Other folders within this main folder have all been imported. It is giving me an error message about not being able to import certain types and/or files are already in catalog.

I know this is long winded and I hope that it is written in a coherent manner. I am extremely frustrated at this point I feel that as I get more involved with PSE4, I dislike it that much more. I am seriously considerng investigating other organizer/editor programs.

Does anyone have a clue as to how to resolve this issue.....btw.....I did a catalog recovery, shut down and reopened PSE, and even rebooted computer.

Sorry you are having such problems.
For my money, I don't think you can find a better editor, but I'll agree the Organizer has some quirks (even though I am a fan of the program).
I'm thinking you are running into duplicate images the more and more pictures you import. Even if an image has a different folder location, Organizer does some voodoo match up to check stuff like name, date, size, etc.
Tracking this down can be a little hit and miss. If you can find a specific image that Elements will not import (usually listed in the message saying duplicate's exist), you could do a Search for that file name and see if it exists elsewhere on your computer. If it does and it is a folder you have already imported, you may have to change the file name of the unimported picture (if you really want two copies of the same image).
