Hello newbie seeking advice after 3 hours slogging in Photoshop elements 4.0.
I'm desperately trying to make an animated banner with a snow effect. I found an online tutorial here
upon realising I didn't have image ready as an option, I read through the help topics with my programme and it suggests using the save for web option where you can then save as an animation.
The problem I'm having is that my layers are keeping their black background even though I'm selecting the screen option on them. So Instead of seeing my image with a snowing effect over the image, I'm getting my original image followed by the four layers of black background.
I've tried different functions and tried to find info in my 4.0 book but I'm having no joy.:(
Any help would be gratefully appreciated!!

Hi Jacqui

... and welcome to the forum :)

This is a tutorial that helped me a lot with animation ... even though it says Photoshop/ImageReady at the top the instructions are in there for Elements too :)

Jacqui,
Just played with it... (never tried it before). I think, you have to have the background on all frames. The black you are getting is only a representation of transparency, but there is nothing under it. In Windows Preview, it is actually white.

Hi Jacqui, welcome to the forum, which by the way is the best place in cyber space (in my opinion:D ). Good luck with your animated banner, I haven't tackled that task yet. I am going to copy Wendy's link and maybe try it after the holidays.

nice!

That sky might need some clouds for all that snow, though - ;)

(An alternate way for PSE4 is here (http://www.graficalicus.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=236), BTW)

How neat. I'm going to have to go back and read all the posts above and try that.

Incidently the whippet thing is my hobby, I go whippet racing and also take action shots of the racing. I used to use photoshop just to enhance the quality of my photos but I'm keen now to learn more.

What a great hobby. Now you can have even more fun with you photos take in PSE.

Nice! The white font could stand out a bit more, though (it gets a bit lost in that blizzard!)

Try an outer glow on it, or maybe a stroke - or possibly another color altogether (maybe sample the red from the second pup on the right?)
