yellow box red ! What does it mean??

I shoot RAW, in a Canon. I process in RAW. My four latest shots have a miniature yellow box enclosing a red exclamation mark embedded in the
Organizer and Editor view of the photos.The photos cannot be edited using layers.They are locked Does this indicate a DNG processing(by accident)?
And if it does how do I tell whether I am using the regular .RAW processing or the DNG. and How would I get back to regular RAW?Beats me ! Any one who can explain to me what's happening here?

I can't say for sure, but when you go to edit them, are you saving them first or just hitting open from the RAW window?

If you save from the RAW window the only option you have is .dng.:confused:
