I was reading in Barbara Brundage's The Missing Manual 4 the text tip on p.346. It says "...first select the text, then click in the Font box in the Options bar. Use your mouse's scroll wheel (or up and down arrow keys) to run down the font list. You'll see your words appear in each font as you go down the list".
I tried it ~~ but it does not work for me. I can only see the font changes to my text if I click to select a new font.
Any thoughts of where I went wrong this time??

Should work. Maybe the text isn't all selected. Try double clicking the T in the Text layer box - then click in the font box so it turns blue - then the arrow keys or scroll wheel should work.

I had the hardest time with this. They were explaining it to me over and over and I still could not get it. Maybe I can pay it forward... :)
Go to your test layer
you need to click on the "T" inside the thumbnail.
you will click on it three times
the second one will highlight your text the third will leave it highlighted but the highlight will be hidden
Then you click on your text box on the top and pick a font to highlight
once that is highlighted, now try your arrow keys
Let me know if I gave correct directions. :o :o

Kimi: Thanks for the "click three times" tip. I didn't know that :o . I've always been a two clicker :)

Thank you Tony and Kimi,
I knew there had to be something I was missing:D
I will give it a try when I get home today.
Another great tip to add to my folder.

Thanks for the tip guys, I will add to my help list also. It will come in real handy in making Christmas cards.

Hi,
there is no need to click 3 times (reminds me of a song title).
Just click on the T in the layers palette, then click on the font name. It should become highlighted, now use your arrow keys up or down.
Kev:) :)

Kev... the third click hides the highlight while still leaving it highlighted.
It makes it much easier to see.:)

Kev: You're right - 3 clicks or 1 click seems to do the same. Reason I like double click is that it scrolls through the fonts without actually setting them so it doesn't fill up the history palette.
