I have photoshop elements 4 on 30 school machines
I want to be able to access all photos from the server (not the local c drive)
I ve changed saving location and tried creating a catalog on the server....however only one user can access the catalog at a time
I get a thumbnail cache Initialization failed error
is there a better way for all users to access the same photos???
thanks

Hi Lofty
I'm not an expert by any means with the catalogues.
I have a feeling that each machine will need to "get" the photos off of the server and have thier own catalogue to not get the error.
This would create a problem with any photo added or changed in that the other computers would not know what has happened.
The catalogue is just an access database that stores the thumbnails and file locations of where each photo is and it keeps track of what is done on that machine.
You could just forgo the catalogues and use open from the main editor file menu.
Hope this helps and I hope somebody else has a more favorable answer.:)

thanks garyk but to use the templates you must have the images in the organiser.....it wont let you insert a photo outside the organiser
thanks anyway
