First off, I am not sure if this is a question to ask here or not. I am new here and do not wish to break any rules. If this post is out of line, please remove it!!
I have the full version of PSE4.0 and would like to purchase PSE5.0. I do not need both and have thought about selling the PSE4.0. First off, is this ok to do as long as it is completely removed from my PC? Then second, how would I go about selling it.
Thanks, Ron

I don't think it is legal, but even more important there really isn't much of a market for used software. Any kid over 13 can find what they want on the pirate sites. Most adults (including myself) would just as soon buy a program with full registration. With yours, no registration.
good luck

Speaking only for myself,
I would not buy used or pirated software. I like paying for the whole thing, as I always need the help; and support system.
Now when I have moved up (ie: elements 3 then 4 and soon to be 5) or (Printshop...all the #'s now at 23..) I just keep them or load them onto another computer we own.
Even at the school where I teach (and I teach elementary computer classes) we do not accept used programs or computers anymore.
Now, there may be...a charity spot that might accept a donation.
Best I can help you with. I do agree it is a shame to toss away good stuff.

Thanks for the input. I think I will just hang on to it and save my pennies to get PSE5.0. I think that is the best course of action here. There is a lot about software and registering it that I don't understand, which is why I asked. I do not want to do anything legally OR morally wrong.
Thanks, Ron

Hi Ron ...
It is perfectly legal to resell your PSE4 and you can also transfer the licence too. That means that the person who buys it will be able to register it with Adobe .... you just need to contact Adobe and they will officially transfer the registration for you.
I have never sold any of mine because I need them but I did buy PSE3 second hand and had the licence transferred to me :)

I see used software for sale all over the place, on good photography sites. Completely legitimate to do, so long as you handle the registration transfer for the buyer (as described by Wendy).

Ok, I am completely in the dark on this one. How do you transfer the license. Sorry, I just don't know.
Thanks, Ron

I have done this before, i.e. buying used software, with full support. It's legal as long as the licence agreement permits you, the owner of the licence, to transfer it.
And, what's more, is that if you buy software which is outdated of a couple of version, you may be able to get the upgrade at a decent price. Provided the reseller has not used the right to upgrade from this software and that the publisher permits upgrading from a few versions behind (Macromedia, for example, didn't allow upgrading from farther than 2 versions).

Thanks for the info all. Now I am thinking that I will try to sell it again. I just need to figure out where now. There is so much pirated software that sometimes trying to sell something like this is not the easiest I suppose.
Thanks, Ron
