I want to start scrapbooking and I found some frames and borders (by Sage)that I really want to use, but it says they are made to use with Alien Skin Splat. Does this software work with PSE5? If so, is it easy to use for a newbie? Any comments or recommendations will be much appreciated!

Janet,
I have Alien Skin Splat LE on my PC. It workswell in PSE5. It's not difficult to use, just takes a little practise.
Kev:) :)

Thanks, Kev! I really haven't started using any "extras" yet and I'm kind of in the dark about downloading and using all those great things you can find out there. From reading some other threads it sounds like it can be a challenge at times. At least I know now that Splat! will work if I decide to invest the $$$.

Janet,
the version of splat that I have was a freebie and is the light version. The full program is quite expensive.
If you want to try the light version to see if it works with your frames send me a PM with your Email address and I'll send it to you.

Okay! I've already downloaded some frames because they were free. It seems logical that free things would be compatible, right?

Most of their products have fee 30 days demo's. I have played with the demos and they are fun, but like Kev says, they are a bit pricey.

I got Graffi's Add-O-Matic and added Splat! to PSE5. When I tried to add the free frames it wouldn't add them because they are .rfr files. The website says the .rfr format is for use with Splat! Is there a setting somewhere that I need to change?

Jane ..

You need to have splat installed in order to use them :)

... see Kev's message

Hi Wendy! I thought I did that. Kev sent me the file, I unzipped it and dragged it into Graffi's Add-O-Matic and got the message that it had been put where it needed to be, but I can't find any evidence that it's there. I just went back to Kev's attachment and tried to open it again and I get a message that Windows can't open it because it's an unknown file type. Maybe I'll go to the Alien Skin site and see if I can find a trial to download.

Thanks!

Hi again, Wendy!

I've started over and downloaded a free 30 day trial of Splat! and saved it to my desktop. I started the install wizard. When it asks where to intall it, a box opens and the only choice there is PSE2, not PSE5, even though I have both. I click to install in a different location and another list appears, but it doesn't show PSE5 either. I'm sorry to be such an idiot, but I'm really not very computer literate. :o Where do I go next?

I just checked and it says PSE2 or higher for Windows.
