Hello All,

I am new to this form and to Elements ver.4, so it should come as no surprise that I have a question. :D

I use the folder view in Elements to inspect two external hard drives labeled: (J) Photos, (I) Backup. The (J) drive is where all originals are stored. The (I) drive is used as a Backup for programs and contains a mirror of the originals on (J). The dilemma I have encountered is, I can view all the folders/photos on the (I) drive but only a few folders/photos show up from the (J) drive. This is a big issue for me because I want to work from within the (J) drive where the originals are stored not the backup drive.

So the question here is how can I get all the folders/photos from the (J) to show up in Elements? :(

Thank you for help and patience!

Hello Leilani
Could you detail how you make your backup? Are you using Elements or some other backup program.

Also, have you used the Get Photos command to link the photos on each drive? If you have, did you do so in the same catalog? Only one catalog can be open at each time. Just throwing stuff out to see what might be happening

Hello Ward,

Thanks for inquiring about my file problem. What I did was create a new catalog, adding only the (J) drive which of course is the one I wanted to work with. This solution seems to be working so far.

Again, I sincerely appreicate you're taking the time to reply. :D

Glad you resolved the problem and thanks for posting back. Just a reminder that only one catalog can be open at one time. Since your other drive is used primarily as a backup, this should not present a problem for you.

Not sure how you are making your backups, but if you do not use Elements Backup/Restore, the catalog file does not get backed up automatically. Post back if you need any more information.
