Batch numbering query PSE4 Mac

When I download images from my Epson P4000 to my Mac they are numbered EV001, EV002 etc, not the in camera numbering. Can I select all and re-number starting from eg 6123 rather than 0001? [It is so-oo-oo annoying to lose the sequential numbering from my camera!]

I download directly to the EpsonPhotoViewer from the CompactFlash card. When I can download directly to my Mac, PSE4 and iPhoto both retain the incamera numbering.
When I travel without a laptop I need to use the PhotoViewer as backup.

Maybe you can try to view the images by date shot, rather then the sequential number.

I will try to find a way to identify my shots. Problem arose trying to sort out 2,500 images saved on P4000 in 20 folders!
