My grand-daughter is doing a photography course at college and I am going to have PSE5 as a xmas pressie. When PSE5 has installed along with my photos from PSE4, will it be ok to uninstall PSE4 and give it to her? Hope so as she would be thrilled to bits and I would be in her good books;)

Hi Jeeps ...

Did you buy PSE5 as an upgrade offer from Adobe ??

My opinion, for what it's worth, is that there shouldn't be any problem doing that. PE 5 has not been sold as an upgrade to PE 4, at least here in the States; therefore, there's no obligation/expectation that you'll 'retire' PE 4 when you switch to PE 5. I guess you can go through the process of getting Adobe to transfer the registration of your PE 4 to your granddaughter, but I'm not sure they'll have much energy around that. They get a whole lot more focused (no pun intended) on their high-end products, and the limits of sharing and transfering are more strictly enforced.

One person's opinion....

Oops - hi, Wendy. Looks like we're headed down the same path!

Hi Chuck ...

I was going to say if not then no problems ... if you did then it would be worth reading the small print :)

I too think that it would be just fine

... somewhere on the Adobe site is the licence transfer form but they seem to have moved it and I can't now where they have put it :(

I'm not going for the upgrade Wendy as on Amazon here in the UK the full version works out at only about £5 less than the full one so I thought it was worth it to pass the PSE4 to my grand-daughter. There's a 20% discount on PSE5 and 34% discount on The Missing Manual for 5.

Thanks for your replies.:)

Hi ...

Oh you are fine then ... if you registered it then you just need to do a transfer and she will be able to register it in her own name.

Try ringing Adobe UK for the transfer form :)

Hope that she enjoys using Elements ... and do tell her about the forum..

Thanks Wendy.

Have already shown her the forum and galleries when she last visited me, she was well and truly amazed, and very very impressed - so she should be - it's great on the forums and inspiring looking at the galleries.:)
