I have a photo with the following dimensions.

W 3379 pixels
H 2499 pixels

Docuement size
Width: 11.263
Height 8.33
Resolution 300 pix/inch
JPEG

I would like to have my photo professionally printed for framing. I would like for the photo to be 7in wide by 5 in high. Do I just burn the above file and tell the lab to make a 7x5? Will the finished picture look like my original file when it is downzised? I would appreciate any help someone can give me on this subject.
Thanks

Steve

Hi there

I believe you would be better off doing your own cropping before you send it to the printer.

Set your crop tool or marquee to the 7 by 5 aspect ratio. Then drag from the upper left corner as far as you can go the press the spacebar to center as desired.

As a maximum crop you will only loose a small amount as demonstrated in the example below. The red would be lost. But you could crop at any size smaller.

You should crop it first to a 7x5 ratio - otherwise when you ask them to print 7x5 they're going to have to crop some off and you won't have any control over what gets cropped. Otherwise leave as many original pixels as you can.
