Scanner works in 3.0 not 4.0 or 5.0

Hi,
I am able to import images from scanner with Elements 3.0 but could never get them to import in 4.0 and now 5.0 Get an error message that there is a program error. Can't figure it out, why I have no problem in Elements 3.0 and get nowhere in Elements 4.0 and now 5.0

I had the same thing a while back - turned out I was using an old driver - updating the scanner driver fixed the problem. Check your scanners website to see if there's a newer driver available.

I had the same problem yesterday. Worked fine in PSE3 when trying to scan but wouldn't work in PSE4. I solved the problem by:
1. Go to and select "edit."
2. Select "preferences."
3. Select "scanner."
4. Make sure your scanner model is the one "selected" in the "import box".

Hi and welcome to the forum.
My scanner will not import the images into PSE4.
I did the new driver downloads etc. I also wrote to the company. They wrote back and said it was not a program it was compatible with. I can get the images into 4 but it is a work around after scanning and it originaly opens by default to Photoshop 5 LE.
