delete key not working PSE4 mac

Does the delete key not work the same in PSE4 mac as the win version? For example, I could select an area on a layer, inverse the selection and hit the delete key to remove the unwanted portion. That doesnt work on the mac. I have to use Edit>Cut. What's up?

I'm never very good at what keys are called ... but the one that does that on my Mac is the backspace.

Large Arrow key second row down, right hand side at the end of the numbers row ... :)

Thanks Wendy - there are two delete keys on my mac keyboard! One above the cursor keys has the block arrow facing right and then the one at the end of the number row says only delete. That used to be the backspace key on the pc. Thanks!! Would be simple if I READ the names on the keys, right?? :p But I dont look at my fingers when I type either!!

For those on a Macbook, the Backspace key (the one at the top right corner) also doubles as a Delete key if you press and hold the Function key while pressing the Backspace key.

That's my tip of day ;)
