What a bone headed idiot I am. I post the Challenge announcements in a number of places and I simply cut and paste. It seems somewhere I did a cut instead of a paste.

With much apologies to all those who were affected my my stupidity her is the thrust of the original message.

Whenever I feel i am about to run out of challenges Ray Robillard manages to read my mind from afar. Once again Ray has saved my bacon. This challenge has wonderful textures that just scream out "Use Me!".

While you are having fun look around and see if you have something that would make a great challenge.

Send them here....challenge@cogeco.ca

Make sure they are saved for web with a file size under 100kb. Grant also likes that you have the file size named as such...199redsky.jpg (putting your name in place of redsky of course.)

Alex ... Neat idea and very nicely done !!

Andie ... Nice work on the displacement map ... your rose looks great.

Ben ... Great idea in No 1and I love the way you have done it ... they look perfect in the cockpit. Interesting Effect in No 2 ... hoe did you do it ??

Bill .... You orbed it !!. It really looks good and that background is amazing. How did you do that ??. Love the new apples in No 2 that is neat !! ... you have blended them in perfectly

Bob ... No 1 is just stunning ... beautifully done and it would make a great Christmas Card. Nice work in No 2 its very striking .. but I guess that No 3 just has to be my favourite is a great effect and looks amazing.

Celia ... Those soft gentle colours swirling into each other make a really good image. Nice work on it . Then No 2 is just such a contrast ... Bonfire Boy is a riot of colour and a very nice effect indeed.

Charles ... As soon as I saw yours I just burst out laughing ... its so funny !!

Cindy ... Nice work on your first Challenge entry. I love the way they all look as if they are heading off into the distance :) .. and what a good idea to turn them into balloons for No 2.

Donald ... what an excellent effect in No 1. How did you do it ?? ... and Wow No 2 is so full of life. Very nice work on both of them. No 3 just has to be my favourite ... its a good effect.

Jack ... Now that is a clever idea in No 1 and it works really well. No 2 looks great those cookies look good enough to eat ..

Malcolm ... That is just so striking and I love the way it turned out.

Marilyn ... Oh that is so beautiful once again you take such a mundain object and turn it into a fairy tale. Same thing with No 2 ... beautifully put together with a great look.

Rita ... Well done ... its imaginative, novel and made me smile. Very nice work on it.

Red ... That is just great. I love the way you have slotted them in everywhere and the text is really good too :)

Thanks for your comments Wendy. Looks like we were thinking along the same lines at the same time. Here are my comments.

Ray-thanks for the starter image-lots of possibilities as shown by each one's entry.

Alex-Looks like the apples were a popular item. Your shadow on the table helps add depth to the image.

A Passkey-Great colors and blending. I saw your posts on the PET forum about playing with displacement maps; looks very nice. The M&M border is a nice touch.

Ben-Love the spaceship theme in your #1 with the apple-nauts. Is the spaceship from scratch? What did you use in #2 to get the color and texture?

BillZ-Nice orb in #`1-did you crop part of the image to start? Nice background-how was this done? Enjoyed the replacement of the earth as the last row of apples in your #2.

Bob-A nice seasonal touch with the Christmas balls in #1. Great way to turn the sticks into crosses and the black/white adds a spooky feel in your 2. Nice window in your #3.

Celia-Nice images. Like the cloudy, floaty feel to your #1. I'm a lover of M&Ms so the background pleased me in your #2.

Charles-A good disguise for your onions. Is this what recipies mean when they say "sweet onions"?

Cindy-A clever way to turn the apples upside down and make a forest in your #1. An interesting way to turn the fruit into hot air balloons and love the texture you applied in your #2.

Donald-A nice oil on canvas look to your #1. Would you take us through the steps on your #2? I thought it was very dramatic interpretation. Your "stop-action" bullet through the apple in #3 is high caliber work.

Jack-Very nice work with the tree and animals in your #1-how did you do the various coloring, especially the tree? I'll take a dozen each of the cookies in your #2.

Malcolm-Very dramatic interpretation with just two colors. Very nicely done.

Marilyn-What a great way to turn the apple into a skirt, especially the fringe on the bottom in your #1. I get a sense of anger in your #2.

Rita-What a nice animation. Made me laugh.

Red Sky-Love the 50ish look and feel to the sci fi comic cover. I probably read this under the blankets with a flashlight after my parents told me to go to sleep.

Susan-Nice the dog re-appears although I've heard chocolate is bad for dogs. Nice way to get a reflected look. Very nice orbs in your #2, especially the left one-almost a butterfly look to it.

Tab-Looks like it is time for a snack. Nice texture to shirt. As always, a signature frame sets off the whole theme.

Tony-Nice winter scene and snowman looks in your entries. How did you do the snow on the ground look? The text in #2 is a nice touch. I saw some posts about this font, but I have not downloaded it.

Wendy-Love your progression theme, one of my favorite things you do. How long did it take you to fill up the display case in the last entry? Lots of different color changes in the tops. Love the detail of the shelf facing-has a nice look of accent molding on the top and bottom.

Ward,
Thanks for the comments. All graphics (tree and leaves, etc) in #1 were simple cutouts with the cookie cutter tool and then effects/bevels were applied. The tree was cut from the 90 degree rotated view. I'll have a good cup of coffee with my cookies, please. They were actually my wife's idea.

Wendy,
Thanks for the comments. The orb'd cookies came out pretty good. I was amazed how real some looked. Thanks again

Ward and Wendy- Thanks for taking the time to comment. I like this sci-fi guy and those old pulp fiction illustrations are my favorite. I found a big box of them awhile back and wanted to take the covers off and display them but members of this forum just wouldn't allow it! So they sit in the box going unnoticed until I use one in a project. Ward, MAD magazine was my vice growing up and remember having to convince my mom to allow me to get a subscription; she didn't think it was totally appropriate. I think I went over the edge when my brother passed me his National Lampoons.

Thank you. I've missed your evaluations these last few weeks.
Have to lay in some of those delicious looking preserves of yours.

Wendy and Ward, great comments as usual and Wendy those bottles are great - might we get a bottlemaking tut one of these days?

Ward funny you should ask about the snow - I did something similar in an old challenge and used the same image - I wanted some more snow and couldn't remember where I got it from originally and couldn't locate the file - was a texture and was downloaded from somewhere but I know not where :(

Hi ...

... and thank you for the kind comments :)

I didn't make the the bottles from scratch but by the end I wished I had done. The only image I had was a very small amber bottle so I had to desaturate, lighten, distort it to get two different bottles, change the lid. I think it really would have been easier to start from scratch ..

Setting up the shelf wasn't too bad as I had all the different bottle contents in layers in one image with Hue & Saturation layer just on the lid. I kept changing the contents and adjusting the lid colour and then using copy merged and pasting it into the shelf image  ...

I really didn't start off with the idea of doing so many but they sort of grew :D
