I'm trying to find a tutorial on how to make an object look like fur? is there one anyone knows of? or should I be looking for a software application that can do this?
thanks.

Hi
There are some brushes which make nice fur and if nobody posts before I get home from work then I will locate them for you. I don't remember off-hand where I downloaded them from but they work quite well.

Hi ...

I think that the best fur and hair brushes are the ones by Dave Nagel over on Creative Mac (the brushes do work on Windows pcs :) )

Try this link ... but ignore the adverts for the other sort of hair brushes :D :D there are actually several sets that are worth downloading ..

I have the Nagel brushes also. One thing to remember when you use them is change your colors so you have high and low tones. :)

Hi ...

There is a great tutorial on the creativemac site showing you how to do that .. the tutorial is for making beards but the technique applies to fur as well.

Way back in the early days we played around with this technique ... here is a link to the thread, which included links to the brushes and tutorial (and the links still work  ) :

DOH!

and I wasted time making a fur brush (http://www.graficalicus.com/boards/fur_brush.abr). :(

USE: set two contrasting colors (maybe a light brown & a dark brown?) and brush away. Change the size with the two square bracket keys on your keyboard ( '[' & ']')

Wendy: Do Nagels brushes work with PSE 4?

Wendy

Hi ...

Yes they do ... as a general guide brushes made with older versions of Elemsnts (and photoshop) tend to work on newer versions ...

... but its not always the case the other way round :)

Yes, I haven't found any Photoshop brushes that don't work with Elements. :D

Suzanne, that's a great stocking. Which brush did you use on the white fur?

Is there a version of your "fur" for Mac? I just got jibberish when I clicked on "fur".

nope - it's just an .abr - should work on any version of Photoshop/Elements (I made it with 5, tho'). Open the brush palette and load from there (click the little riangle at the top, and from the popout menu, choose "Load brushes" - then navigate to it)

Thanks so much for the BRUSH!!

My pleasure!

Thanks, Suzanne! I meant she needs a real one! <lol> Hers is the one she got when she was a baby and it's getting too small!
But she would love one anyway. Her name is Johanna.
You really did a super job. It just looks soooo real.
