View Full Version : Background papers

I just received my first Digital Scrapbooking e-newsletter and noted the links for sources for "Papers".

I am in a big hurry and have been in the middle of a large Family Reunion so don't have time to hunt through all of these sites just now-- can anybody tell me the best place to get, background "papers" that look like handmade papers? You know, like those pricey handcrafted papers with fiber textures... sometimes with flower petals embedded? I would like an assortment of these to choose from, if there is such a thing.

Thanks,

Jessica

Thanks Tricia.

I would like to know where to get something like that too. Guess one could buy some and scan them in.

Hi Jessica,

Check out the following link. They have some good tutorials on creating your own vellum type and textured papers. Also ...... some nice page kits in the Freebies section. Registration is free.

Hope this helps. :)

Jessica,

You gave me an idea and so I went to the craft store and bought about $2.00 worth of scrabook paper that I then scanned into my computer. I haven't found the handmade stuff yet but I guess you could do that with it too. I know most of those paper kits cost around $2-3 or more so this way I got what I picked out.

If you don't have a scanner, you could take them to someplace that does and have them put on a CD.

Jessica,

I forgot about this. There is a company called Wetzel and company. I think their web address is wetzelandcompany.com. Anyway, I just got an email from them today. They have digital art paper discs. They are handmade papers that have been digitized for computer use. This discs are rather spendy but they do have free downloads (one paper) if you sign up for their email distribution.

Pat, thanks so much for replying. I have looked at Tricia's links and there are some really lovely things there, just not what I was hoping for. But I have taken note of some that I will want in future projects.

Then I looked at your Wetzel and Company one, and, WHEW, are they expensive! $69.95 for 45 images... my projects are mostly gifts for others and this would be a bit much. The selection looks to be really good at W & Co, though. I will bookmark this anyway, though I don't see myself spending this kind of money anytime soon. The free download is a possibility...

I think I like your idea, Pat, about going to a craft store and finding a selection of papers to scan. I remember also wandering into an Asian store once (Japanese) and seeing some handcrafted paper stationery that I liked. I don't live close to there, but someday that may be a possibility also.

Thanks again!

Jessica

Jessica,

I downloaded the one available this week and also one about 2 or 3 weeks ago when I signed up to receive the email. The one I downloaded last night is pretty nice and has petals and stuff embedded in it.

I'm with you. I downloaded the PDF to look at the papers on the disc and there were only about 10 I really liked so that would come to almost $6.00 per sheet.

I'm going to look around for some of the handcrafted papers and scan them in. I was really pleased with what I found in the craft store. They have quite a large selection and I'm sure there must be some handcrafted stuff in there but I was in a hurry so didn't look at everything.

Great link Lulu

Looks like the also have quite a few fonts as well. You should post this in the Useful Links forum as well.

Oh thank you Lulu, this is just great! I haven't looked beyond the first page yet but this looks very promising indeed. I have been so busy I haven't been on the forum (too busy taking portraits of my kids for Grandma for one thing... and lots of other PSE 3 projects!)

Thank you again, this is a real find.

Yes, thank you Lulu.

That is a great site. The papers download very well and show great texture. Saved me a trip to the place I found that has handmade papers
