View Full Version : Who would like a second gallery just for scrapbooking work?

This is kind of like a petition to Tami. I was just wondering if any of you would like to see a second gallery set up just for scrapbooking stuff. I know a lot of forum members aren't interested in scrapbooking and wouldn't perhaps like to see our regular gallery 'overloaded' with this kind of work. Personally I would love a second gallery. I tend to have this stuff on another site, but would love to post my SB work here on this site in a dedicated gallery.
So come on scrapbookers, if you would like this to be considered, we obviously need to establish that there is a demand for it.........so let's see lots of requests here in this thread. Thanks.

I second Robyn's request! I'd much rather see the scrapbook pages on this site than have to go to another site for them.

I agree - it would be a great place to post layouts and those not interested would not have to be bothered. On the other hand - they may just peek and feel inspired to give it a try. ;)

What a good idea ... :)

Hate to be a spoil-sport but I like the scrapbook pages in with all the rest. I have a growing appreciation for the scrapbook pages people do and if it were in a seperate area I probably wouldn't be as exposed to the creations; it would take an extra mouse click and I'm too lazy! If it were to happen then maybe someone would want to have all the weird stuff (like mine) off in another gallery and then we would be a segregated society. If it's done digitally with Elements or Photoshop let's stay in the same group. I may not comment on all the great images posted but I do like to see them. Just my opinion. Let democracy ring like yesterday's US elections!:) :) :) :)

Good idea. I would rather have a separate scrapbook gallery. Most of the PSE work I do is making scrapbook pages. I would post more than I do now if there was a separate scrapbook gallery.

The problem is how to define 'scrapbooking' A lot of people who claim NOT to scrapbook do what they call 'Montages' but which have all the elements of scrapbooking just without too many embellishments or any journalling beyond a title.
I'm with Steven on this one - personally I like seeing a bit of everything in everyone's galleries....if people want to see just my scrapbooking efforts they can always take a peek at my Scrapper's Guide gallery!

I am with Bayla and Steven on this one too. I like seeing them together. If I could pick, I'd rather have it where we can leave comments on the page of the photos. That way when you look at the photo you can read the comments on the page instead of going back to the forums to see what everyone thinks. That's just my two cents. =)

Just wanted to add that I had no interest in scrapbooking until a few months ago when I noticed Tina's layouts in her gallery....I doubt I'd have bothered to look at a separate gallery...as it is I was inspired and now I'm hooked!!

Ahh Bayla, but that's my point - if you look you could be hooked. I think if they were side by side it would be no different than looking at individual galleries like we do now.
I bet if it was there - no one could resist peeking.;)

I'm surprised by the mixed responses so far. But this is what I LOVE about this forum. We can all have our own opinions and be able to freely express them, and these opinions are respected by fellow members and just as importantly by the administrators of this site, who did not interfere with what and how we say it on this forum.......within reason of course! So thank you for that.
Debate is great........so keep it going!! :D :D

Hear, hear, Robyn!
I would support either here- leaving everything in the main gallery or doing separate galleries. It would be nice to be able to look at just photos or just scrapbooking, for inspiration.

I don't scrapbook but have enjoyed "dabbling" with it, that interest certainly sparked here.
After reading the posts, I can understand why those seriously into Scrapbooking would like their own gallery. And I certainly would "peek" at a second one - actually it might be more interesting and more enlightening to view them all together; and perhaps having more of them were it a separate gallery, is a good thing.
I'm ok with whichever way it goes.... oh oh, guess that makes me a fence-sitter. :o

Like Steven, I enjoy seeing the "scrappy" stuff mixed in with the rest as I graze through the galleries.
Besides - how can TPTB give extra gallery space just to a "special interest group"? It would have to be available to all, to be fair. I guess they could make extra gallery space part of a "premium" subscription tier.
Thinking it through, I feel like the way things are is pretty OK.

I would prefer to keep things the way they are. The fine line between montage/collage and scrapbooking is too thin and sometimes I would not know where to post an image :D Perhaps the size of the file and number of images could be changed - e.g. file size no great than 500 pixels and no bigger than 150k and the number of images increased to 30 or even maybe 40 :D

I'd actually hate to see the file size decreased. You only have to look at the quality of the uploads between here and Scrappers Guide. The file size that we are able to use here means that the details are pretty good.
No, I'd rather keep things as they are than move in that direction. It was just an idea that I thought I would throw into the mix, but it would appear at this stage that it is not a popular suggestion. :)

Oh I agree with Robyn on that ... decreasing the file size would spoil it for me. If you take a look at my galleries you will see that I have the same image (my parents wedding in both) ... viewing the two side by side really does make me appreciate the file size here :)

I think leaving things just as they are suits me. I wouldn't want to be trying to keep track of another gallery for uploading photos.
