Hi ...
... and welcome to the forum :)
Nice work on the breakout ... its not an easy one to get right but you have done well with it !
... if you want some more help with the technique then there is a Video Tutorial in the Subscriber Area. Just go to Subscriber Area>Videos then scroll down until you see Border Breakout (its dated 25th August 2005). In that he give shows an easy way to get the perspective right ... its a neat tip.
I loved the Power Line Glow ... very unusual and very effective :)

Thanks Nancy -- the power glow was one of my first serious Photoshop enhancement projects. I used a hue, a levels, and a glow adjustment layers on top of the usual high-contrast B&W adjustment layer to make the clouds BW. The original pic was a fairly boring color snap with ugly clouds so I was motivated to do something to make this shot more interesting. Thanks again.

I've added my 4th picture - red storm wing -

This was a photo I took on a recent flight that I enhanced to include some angry dark red clouds.
Enjoy.

Hey Wendy -- thanks for the tip. It is interesting that this tutorial you pointed me to is the same one I saw on iTunes but modified to work without any translation with PS Elements. They even used the same surfer picture!! I applied the updated technique to a picture I took at the annual Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerqe and added it to my gallery.

Many thanks Wendy. Yes, I recognized the voice, and I understand why they would recycle images for multiple tut's.

Hi Alpha and Welcome!!!
I just love your breakouts!!! Very nicely done!!! I can't say that I am crazy about the red wing one though... ...I don't fly well, and well, that just looks a little scary to me!!! :D Technically, I think it looks great though!!!!

Thanks Mom and Byron... One more new one is posted in my gallery that is a very slightly enhanced shot of the golden arches at the world's largest McDonalds shot on the turnpike in Oklahoma... do I know how to live or what?

The new default pic in my gallery is a BW of one of our cats with the color in her eyes left intact (and slightly enhanced). Enjoy.

That image is great! I love selective coloring. How do you like your Alpha? I really wanted that camera but ended up with the Rebel XT instead. I have a 717 and loved it so I figured the Alpha would be awesome!

Thanks -- I am enjoying my Sony Alpha a great deal. The only bummer is all the books give tips specific to Canon and Nikon cameras since these two have the corner on the market at present. I also can't find a mirror lock up feature which I would like to try for reducing shake. Other than these two minor gripes, I am really pleased. The pic quality is awesome and the settings are intuitive. I also like the low weight of the body. I will like it even better once I get a better lens for it.
Take care, and Happy Thanksgiving.

Alpha, nice start to your gallery. You have captured such beautiful blues in the ocean of your Maui image and the sky of the McDonald's image.

Thanks Diana. I'm slowing making my way to a full gallery of pics that I think are worthy of posting here. I just added another tonight of my daughter taken in the shadows which I turned BW. I have so many things that I want to do. Thanks for the encouragement -- it really helps.

Thanks Wendy -- your kind words are always an inspiration.
By the way, I took a peek at your gallery to see what was new, and as usual my jaw dropped in awe. Your work is so inspiring. The wedding colorization image is particularly amazing.
