The mood is soft and lovely; I love the way you composed the shot, so nicely balanced. I especially like the simple framing, it really compliments the image.

Very, very nice. Who is the little fella, your son?

I also think it's great, Byron. And your close-up of the baseball glove and bat is very cool as well. http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/gallery/view_img.php?id=13499

Gives me an idea for a Christmas present for my son. He's 6 and lives for baseball (in the spring. Right now, it's football season, of course...:))

Wow that is one great image and I love the way you titled it. It really is beautiful enough to be a postcard......I'd definitely buy it if I were in that area and wanted to send something home :)

Byron,

I love the photo and the framing and I especially like your title! It is clever how you incorporated Tahoe in between the Sunset. Beautiful!

Wow!! I am actually blushing after reading all of your kind remarks... Thank you, Pat, for starting the thread -- and also to everyone who added to it.

The young man in the image is my grandson, Eli. The occasion was his first trip to Lake Tahoe, and he was having a great time splashing in the water, getting his cuffs wet and full of sand. It seems like he usually doesn't stand still for very long, so this was a lucky shot with no "motion blur"!! The sun was within minutes of setting, and cast a golden glow on everything.

As for what he was thinking... I'm sure it would fit right on the list with "snakes and snails and puppy-dog tails"... :p

To make the caption, I had to manually place each letter on individual Text layers and arrange them using the Grid, because I couldn't figure out how to tame the Text tool to get the spacing I wanted.

To get the glow around the big letters, I made a composite layer of just the word "SUNSET". Then I loaded the selection from that layer, and added a Gradient adjustment layer - the gradient was made with sunset-like colors. I then dragged this layer below the SUNSET layer, and added some Gaussian Blur until I liked the amount of flare. I then duplicated the color layer a time or two to intensify the effect.

Again, all of the compliments are well appreciated. :)
