View Full Version : How do I keep the brush chooser drop down box open and/or unanchor/drag it around?

I have a set of brushes that I use different brushes in that set over and over. When I open the drop down box for that, choose a brush, move to my document, and click where I want the brush to "paint", the drop down box closes up and I have to reopen it to choose another brush. Now this set is one that I'd like to keep open so I can choose one, use it, then immediately choose another.
Is there a way that I can keep this open or detatch it from it's drop down (it drops down right over the left side of my document) so it anchors to the screen when the brush tool is in use?
The toolbar that automatically appears when I hit the brush button on the main toolbox doesn't disconnect and move when I click (right or left) on it (like I can do with the main toolbox - there isn't a blue bar on it to grab and drag).
Can anyone figure this out?

Hi there
If you have windows... not sure how it works on a mac... with the brush tool active you can right click and this will bring up a brush dialog box where the mouse cursor is clicked.

Hi ...
... and welcome o the forum :)
You can't actually detatch that palette at all but the way Butch suggests is very quick and easy. On a Mac its Control Click ... but from the reference to the blue bar I would think that you are actually using Windows.

Hi ...
Right clicking (or Mac Command Click) works with quite a few tools and brings up different dialogue boxes ... try it with some of the others (Lasso, zoom tool etc) :)

I have a theory ... our brains are like hard drives ... there's only so much memory. So when you have to add something new, something old has to go. Too bad sometimes the stuff that goes is stuff we need and the stuff that stays is the stray useless information. I can remember the license plate on my father's 1964 Buick station wagon we got rid of in 1972, but I can't remember the license plate on the car I drive to work every day.... DUH!
