Frames - Brownpaper

I've been playing with the frames on 5.0. Put "brownpaper" onto a new file; put a photograph into the brown paper. I do not want the border as large as it is, but cannot enlarge the photo towards the edges of the brownpaper. Tried layer styles to narrow the frame, but that doesnt work. Any suggestions? Jean

I opened the brown paper which has the white frame with the black border. If you click on the frame layer with the move tool, you can resize the frame before you add your photo. Just use the transform arrows in the corners and drag the frame to the size you want. Also, you can right click on the frame and there is an option to fit the frame to your photo. Hope this helps.

Hi Susan: Tried your ideas, but it didnt come out as I wanted. I would like to have less of the brownpaper showing. Here is what I got, but want the photo closer to the edges.

A kinda clunky way to do it would just be to create a new blank layer on top, cut out the section of photo you want with the a feathered rectangular marquee and plop on top. You can then resize and fit in with your prefered width of border.
Only an idea - software never does what I want and I always have to find a workaround!!

Lizzie: The forum says no question is too stupid. How do I get a feathered rectangle photo. Went to rect. marquee; put in 30 feather; but when I went to move the photo to the brownpaper (now saved as a file), the feathering didnt move with the photo. Sorry to trouble you again. Jean

Hi Jean ...

You would need to do Edit>Copy then do Edit>Paste and resize the new layer in the way Lizzie said :)
