hi,
another one of the big cats I love. The ounce or snow leopard, a rare animal. Hope you like it.

Mel,
pleased you like it. I once had the pleasure of holding one for about 2 minutes. It was a cub whose mother had died and it was being hand reared in our local zoo. As the zoo is set up to return animals to the wild, the cub is now somewhere in the East. It was a great thrill.

Kev,

Your montages of the big cats are such a treat. Always enjoy seeing them.

Have you ever done any of our North American mountain lion, which is sometimes referred to as puma or cougar?

Skywriter,
pleased you like my work.
No, I've never done one with a cougar, figured you Americans wouldn't take kindly to a Brit using an American animal in his work.
Kev:) :D :)

Beautifully done Kev. The snow leopards are awesome. It must have been a great experience being able to hold a cub, I can only dream of doing that. Another master piece put together by the master of montages, great job:)

Kev,

The snow leopards are wonderful. I am sure our North American friends will allow you to use their big cats. If we had any big cats here, I would be tickled pink to see them used by you.

Karen :)

Bob,
thought you would like the snow leopards. It was about 10 years ago that I held the cub but I'll never forget it. In those days I practically lived at the zoo and made quite a few friends there.
I don't know about the King of Montages, when I look at some of the ones on show I feel like a beginner.

I have one underway of Pumas or Cougars or Mountain Lions. I've no idea which is the correct name.

Kev,

I agree with Karen that any of us North American wildlife lovers would enjoy seeing you work your magic with a mountain lion montage. BTW, it seems that mountain lion, cougar, and puma all seem to be correct, and all seem to be used interchangeably. In some older writings, they are sometimes referred to as panthers, but that name isn't used much now. The exception to that a small population of them in the Everglades of southern Florida that are sometimes called Florida panthers.

I would also be glad to provide you with some images of a mountain lion, but I have never been fortunate enough to see one alive in the wild, much less photograph one. Mountain lions were extirpated from most of the eastern US in the early 1800s with the advance of civilization. In recent years, reports of mountain lion sightings have increased here in the eastern US, but no hard evidence exists to confirm their actual presence.

I did catch a glimpse of one of our native bobcats a few years ago, but unfortunately not enough time for a photo. Still, it was a thrill because they are so elusive and mostly nocturnal.

Pardon me for rambling on so. I didn't intend to deliver a natural history lesson. Just enjoy seeing all the wonderful images of wildlife here sometimes.

Hi Collen,

I’m tucked away in the mountains of Blair County in Altoona.

I just got home from work and saw your PM. I must take care of a few things right now but will get back to you on that shortly.
