I used to be able to do a quick drop shadow in PE4 and I can't even find the drop shadow effect in PE5. I would do a drop shadow and then go to canvas size and increase this then I would go to layers and increase the shadow size. I can't seem to find a workaround for this in PE5 without drop shadows. Help! am I missing something? Thank you, Tom

Tom,
at the top of the layers palette you should see Artwork and effects. Click on the little down arrow to open and then click on the centre icon. Next on the drop down list select layer styles. You will find Drop shadows here.
It's different from previous elements.

I found it, but it sure doesn't work like it did in PE4 - the canvas size doesn't work like it did in PE4 either. Appreciate any help here regarding this. Thanks, Tom :(

PS - what I used to do was use drop shadow to put a shadow around the photo, then go to canvas size and insert between 2 and 1 to make a white border around the photo and then I would go to layer style to increase the size of the drop shadow - it doesn't appear to work like this anymore.

Tom,
in which way doesn't it work differently from 4?

When I click on the drop shadow instead of getting a little boarder with a drop shadow, I get a fairly large white frame around the photo with no drop shadow.

Tom,
I got exactly the same with one difference, when I resized my canvas it was a transparent background, I selected this with the magic wand. openened a new layer below the image by holding Control and clicking new layer. Then I filled the new layer with white. Result as shown in the screen shot. Is this the effect you want?

Kevin, Thanks a lot for your help - I've got it now and I think I am beginning to like Version 5 - it actually works very nicely for drops shadows and their parameters. Appreciate it, Tom :D

Tom,
glad to have helped. The beauty of the new dialogue box is that you can do stroke, bevels, inner and outer glows from the same place as well as shadows.
Nearly like what they have in Daddy Photoshop.
As you get used to 5 you'll begin to love it.

Wendy,
you're so right. I used to look at Photoshop tuts and think why can't we have that. It makes life so much easier.
Kev:) :) :)
