Well -- my spooky street (little light) and cold weather puts me about the same -- 6 kids and left over stuff that I don't need.

We live off the road, so we're lucky to get two trick-or-treaters. My husband still buys bags and bags of candy every year, and then he's "forced" to eat them.

Here's my happy trick-or-treater:

I've had a pretty good handful of kids. Still have candy in the bowl though. And now my kids are home going through their haul. Handing over anything that has coconut. Almond Joys are all mine.....bwa ha ha haaaaaaaa!!!!

And anyone with left over chocolate is welcome to send it to Nebraska! I can never have enough chocolate!!!! (Just gotta find a good hiding place.)

Well, I tried to make it easier, and marked the way using candles here and there through the marsh, around the quick sand and all, then across the log spanning the gorge, even under the waterfall past the bear caves, and across the ladder bridge over the swamp area.... even after all that trouble, not a one showed up yet (would you believe). Hubby said not too many here tonight. He must have been giving them handfuls because not to much candy left in the basket. But thats ok, I always buy too much and keep the Tootsie Rolls aside for last, still have the whole bag.:D

Apparently someone bused in kids from some of the tougher neighborhoods. We had kids that I've never seen before. One surprising thing was the number of older kids and ADULTS trick or treating. No 30 year old should be trick or treating. No kid in sight. Disgusting.

Brice,
That's horrible! I'm not so sure I'd answer the door for a 30 year old!

We shut down at 8:00, and had about 30 kids. The extra candy goes to my college classes tomorrow-it's also teacher evaluation day-hey, it couldn't hurt, right?!

You too Gary! Besides our 2 grandkids who get an extra special bag, 6 is the total for the night here.

I thought it was our weather - bit of a snow blizzard here today. We're rural and at best we've had 30 little halloweenees but 6 - the worst ever!

Wish I had gotten candy and chips I at least liked...:(

Our first batch came at around 6pm. It is now about 10 past 8, and we have had 113 of the little dears darken our door.

We have enough candy for 130, total, so I've prepared an "out of candy" sign, just in case.

Last year, we had between 175-200. We were counting on fewer this year, and made the decision that we would not feed the "big" kids that came around later in the evening - so didn't stock in as much.

Well - it's over and we had about 15 kids. Not many come down our street because of the perv next door. I think only 3 houses on the whole street even bother to turn on their lights anymore.

Kay she looks so cute. Hope she had fun!

In our town the "hours" are 5:00 to 7:30. We had around 30 which was about the same as last year. Where I live the streets are curvy and the lots between half and three-quarter acre. About two blocks away the lots are smaller and the houses much grander.

I guess the little beggers head to where the pickings look better and they don't have to walk as far :) A friend living there had 120 last year when we had 25.

We may not have had a lot, but it was still a golden event :)

Hi ...

Well we had 8 lots here ... most of them very small children with their parents :)

Last couple of years we have added apples to the candy bowl and the apples tend to go first

We had over 150 little ghosts and ran out of candy. Our hours were 6-8 and my boys were done by 6:45.. I too had lots of older kids. My philosophy is that if they are taller than me they should not be trick or treating. Of course, that means my house will probably be one of the first to get rolled. Oh well..

We did have a scare though. Just past dark I noticed a couple across the street from me calling out for their little girl. Apparently she wandered off from their group. We always have the local fire department in our neighborhood handing out candy and talking to the kids so they went into rescue mode and started searching the neighborhood for the little girl. About 30 minutes after she wandered off she was found further down the street. I tell you I was frantic and I didn't even know her.. Thank god she was found safe and sound.

Hope everyone had a good night and didn't get any tricks!!

Brice,

I think after they left your neighborhood, they came to mine  We actually had a long line of cars going through our neighborhood. We went through 4 bags of candy and I finally had to turn out the light shortly after eight. What got me was the mothers that brought their little ones to the door and then held out their bags to get their treats, too  And some of the older kids.....they didn't even bother with costumes. Boy, have times changed since I was a kid.

Times have changed haven't they... I had a group of older kids come up in jeans, Tshirts and baseball caps. I asked what they were supposed to be and they said they were going as college students  How about a little creativity here... Anyway, I guess thats better than what happened a few years ago when they would just stand in the shadows and steal the little kids bags who didn't have adults with them. On the other end of the big kid spectrum I had a couple of girls in the most scandelous costumes  Some of the girls looked like they were only in their underwear   Some even had adults with them so they knew what they were wearing (or what they weren't) and still let them out like that... Disgraceful in my opinion...

Wow, I guess we were the lucky ones. All our 40 goblins were about 4 - 5 years old. Extremely polite and innocent, and all had their parents waiting out on the street for them. We should have made it a movie :D .

The kids started trick or treating at our house at 7 PM. By 7:30 it was over. We only had 4 groups of kids totaling 15 kids in all.

They started at my door at 4:30! That was early!!
we've had problems with the older ones and carloads brought from who knows where. So after the real neighborhood children are done, we go out to dinner, all lights are off. Then we went to Cold Stone for dessert! YUM!!

Wendy, I like the apple idea too. I can recall my mom making up individual goodie bags for all of us, and to give out.We cannot do that here, as someone has probably damaged the innocent with pranks.

But the best partof my day was my 2 year old grandson called and said Hi Grandma, Trick or Treat, I love you. It was the clearest he has talked! Can't wait to get the pictures. If luck runs with me, I may even try it as a digital scrapbook page...shall see.

We had some cute little ones this year. Not too many big kids (scarey because they're NOT in costume:eek: ) like previous years. One little girl looked like a hoochy!!! (sp?) I asked her how old she was and what she was. 13 and Daisy Duke:rolleyes: I gave out lots of candy and 2 cold Michelob lights--(the parents, not the kids). They were dressed like Fred and Wilma Flintstone, did not have a candy bag only their kids did but they were drooling over my Coors lite:p

Actually, we didn't have it too bad this year. Mostly little ones. A few teens here and there, but all dressed up. Parents waited on the sidewalk, unless their kids were really little (really, too young for trick-or-treating).

Our scare was, 3 teens came to the door dressed as the scary ghost-thing from Scary Movie. Well, one of my sons (they are 2) went running to the door, and then saw them, and it really scared him - bless his little heart.

My husband and I don't let our kids watch anything scary or that might give them bad dreams, so it was quite a shock for him to see them. All the other little kids he was fine with (we had lots of princesses, superman, spiderman, batman, power rangers, etc). But, the big kids dress that way really freaked him out.

As I was heading up to bed, I saw several cars prowling the streets. Apparently, it is tradition in this neighborhood to just leave bowls of candy out. The teens come out after all the little ones are gone and take all the leftover candy. So greedy. Hubby said that next year we're going to turn out the light at 8:30! He's not giving candy away to greedy teens.

Well we had somewhere between 80-90 and I had left overs. There are actually less kids the last few years coming out! I always sit outside (unless it's raining) since it's much easier than getting up and down and saves the little ones from climbing the stairs. Something hit my birch tree right in front of me and I hear it hit the ground but didn't see anything. This morning I discovered the egg that just barely missed our vehicle! (wonder if it was my daughter's x friend......... ).

As my kids are gettig older and no longer going out I'm finding I know fewer and fewer kids.

There were a few adults dressed up and one guy who asked for a beer!! I told him I had a tea on the way but no beer!! He said, he got one at one house. The guy was harmless and I think probably shocked when someone gave him his request. His wife just laughed and off they went.

The dog always sits outside with me and the kids come looking for him. He has been dressed as a dinosaur before but I didn't bother last night.
