Okay... it's time to show your costumes from your childhood. Here's mine. (I'm Batman, my sister is "boy wonder".)

Norm,
that must bring back some memories. When I was a boy, Hallowe'en wasn't celebrated in the UK. We went to church and it was known as All Hallows Eve. The day after being All Saints Day.

Norm,
Does it have to be Halloween? I have some great pictures of myself in fancy dress taken at other times of the year.

Norm ...
Oh I like that ... I think I have some fancy dress photos somewhere but like Bayla there are not Halloween ones :)

Kev - I certainly appreciate the idea of a Christian holiday over what it has become.
Ladies -- All "costumes" are welcome. Heck, if I'm gutsy enough to show this embarassing picture (makes me look like a meanie:eek:), then I'm sure you can share your sweet pretty-in-pink dress-up pictures from your youth. :)

I have a photo Norm, from 1966. This also was me with my sister. I loved the old style masks that my sister wore; so colorful and simple. They are probably illegal now for not being safe or something. Got to love the film grain from the Kodak 126!

My guess is that this is 1960- I'm the cute one.

Does anyone know if the odd edge of the paper is what is called deckle?

You know what Norm - I don't think my parents had a camera back in the early 50's. All our baby shots in the 40's were taken from my Aunt's camera. That was the first three of us - then I have a sister 13 years younger and there are drawers full of photos of her. I guess they had a camera by then. I will have to wait until you think of a different theme!!! Thanks for sharing.

Costumes? Without fail it was my dad's long underwear and his warm flannel shirt. Let's not forget the double paper shopping bag for the treats!
Certainly never a picture taken on Halloween...
Not hard done by, just a small town and back far enough when you weren't able to buy costumes - we all looked pretty much the same. Except for those who had more creativity and put a sheet over their head... LOL I'm sure there must have been some homemade ones around somewhere in town.
Enjoying this thread alot - thanks for a pleasant trip back in memory!

Norm this would have been fun but I don't have any photos in costume as a kid. We lost alot of pictures in a fire when I was a kid. Sure wish I had some of them. My Mom was really creative with our costumes (all 5 of us)

Kim - That's so sad. I'm sure my sister is wishing this one would go up in flames too. Too bad it's saved electronically now. It's okay... I'm sure there are others that she could pull out of me that I'd rather be left in the boxes under the stairs. :)

Norm, this is not my childhood but it is the past, about 5 years ago.

I don't know about you, but the second "thing" from the right in Ellen's photo is one of the creepier costumes I have seen. What is it, and, is that you Ellen?

It is creepy isn't it? I don't know what it was supposed to be or even which neighbor kid it is. I'm on the left.
This was fun Norm - thanks and Happy Halloween everyone.

I can't say who I was trying to be but I sure was cute. I wonder how I changed from that cute little boy into a fat, wrinkled up old man?

I have one more, this from 1968. We had hosted a neighborhood party and here's a bunch of us kids hanging around my dad. I dressed up that year as a girl (geez, why didn't my mom put her foot down on that one?) but I am out of drag when this picture was taken.
