I had a printing question posted prior to the crash and someone provided some good information on how to print multiple custom size prints on a full page, but the instructions are no longer available.

However, I found instructions in "The Missing Manual" for creating your own print package, but I'm stumped and hope someone can help me.

It says to create a new blank doc - done
Then it says to "drag each photo into your document. Do this from the Layers palatte. Then position the photos as you wish."

I have tried and tried and cannot figure out what it means to Drag photos from the layers palatte. Now I'm even lost as to whether I should be in "organizer" or "editor" when trying to do this.

Help??? Can someone help walk me through this???

Thanks

Hi Slo,

You need to be in Editor ..

Create your new blank document ... then open up the image you want to add.
Make sure that you can see both images on the screen at the same time and make sure that the layers palette is open on the screen.
Click on the image you want to add and move your cursor over to the layers palette
Click down on the thumbnail of your image, hold mouse button down and drag to the new blank document (thats why you need to be able to see both on the screen).

Now you will have the image layer in your blank document and you will be able to resize it using the move tool

If you are not comfortable using drag and drop then here is an alternative.
------------------------
Create your document
Open up your image
Select>All
Edit>copy
Click on your blank document
Edit>Paste

..... this way takes longer but you may find it easier :)

Slo,

as a test,:
1. open 4 photos
2. create a blank document. File  New (1000 x 1000 pixels, RGB, White).
3. go to windows  tile or cascade. this way you can see all the files at once - you need to be able to see all files at once.
4. select one photo (all of them, if jpegs, should have a layer called background), grab that layer and drag it to the blank document.
5. go to the next photo, and drag that background layer to the blank document. Then the next and so on.
6. Once all photos have been 'moved' to the blank. you can close them leaving the blank one open. On the blank document, you should see 4 layers (4 pics) and one white background layer.
7. select the move tool and move each pic into position, resizing them as necessary to fit on the one blank page.

Hoepfully, that gets you close to where you need to be. Remember to save this test as a psd so you'll have a clue to what you just did.

Try 6 photos, 8, 9 whatever next time.

PS. If I left out a step, please let me know.
