I have found these sites really helpful.
I didn't know anything and now I can actually discuss the subject with people and find out more because I have a solid understanding to work up from.
Also jodi helped as well.

Keith,
Colour management can be difficult to understand ... so thank you for posting the links. I am sure that they will be very useful :)

Hi,
I posted this as the last message in the color management/calibration discussion that was going on earlier this week and wondered about opinions out there on LCDs and calibration software???
*******************
Sooo - was a little concerned when I saw Pat from DC's message as relates to calibrating LCD's because I was under the impression, to get the absolute best results I want from an LCD (mine is a 19" by Dell - new last fall) -- - calibration software is the best way to go?
Why you may ask did I get an LCD? I thought it would give me a little more space to edit and be easier when sitting at the computer for extended periods of time. I was getting a new computer system anyway and I feel like, if I get it adjusted right, I'll be happy with it.
************************
Any thoughts on this? I have not been pleased with the color rendition on my LCD, *however* when I do final edits on my CRT, I'm very happy with the prints off of my Canon i950, as the colors seem very accurate.

Leah,
I followed the LCD instructions in this link: http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?13@18.cYQaemGeBTf.32@.3bbb2005/0
and it worked for me. My LCD out of the box had a brownish tint to it - I have a 19inch Dell 1905 UltraSharp LCD.

Danielle, thanks for responding. I wasn't able to access the forum earlier in the week, then I got occupied with other tasks.
Do you mean you loaded the Dell ICM profile? I have used Adobe Gamma to try and calibrate the LCD, but have not loaded a profile -- guess I should look into how to do that.
Mine actually had decent color, relatively speaking, out of the box, but then, I kept seeing posts on forums that I should think about getting a software program to calibrate. Sooo - started wondering if I should do that or not.
