Congratulations Nancy! I was thinking about you during the series because I know you go to the games occasionally. Glad your team won ... St Louis is certainly a great baseball city.

I was hoping for the Tigers (sorry) just because it's been so long for them, but they sure didn't play well.

Thanks Bill. Actually it has been two years longer for St.Louis. They last won the world series in 1982 and Detroit won in 1984.

Sure did! I am a die hard Cardinals fan from childhood on. I remember the 1968 series between the two when Detroit won. Revenge is sweet - even if it does take 38 years. :D

Congratulations Nancy. I was rooting for the Tigers, who played pretty bad I must admit, due to the fact that I'm from an American League area. But the Cards deserved the win, and I'm glad one of the old teams got it. Anyone but the Yankees, where my AL devotion ends!

AMEN! I hate the Yankees. Actually I'm pretty ticked off right now because the Today show (a national morning news show) has barely mentioned except as a footnote in the news segment that the Cardinals won. When the Yankees won they were all wearing hats and signs all over the place and interviews and everything. Ha- the Cardinals are the CHAMPIONS!!! Eat your heart out Yankees and Mets (the other New York team who we beat to get to the series by the way:p )

Yep, Nancy, if my teams aren't in it, I cheer for whoever is playing AGAINST the Yankees! I grew up in Michigan so am a Tigers fan, but my family has always cheered for St. Louis too (guess it's the Kansas/midwest roots...) St. Louis is one of the classic teams that you always like to see win. Congrats!

Nancy - Yes, I remember 1982 because I was in Milwaukee at the time and it was my Brewers (then in the AL) who lost in 7 to the Cards. The reference was to the '04 appearance in the series. Regardless ... the Cards deserved the win.

Bill, ahh yes, I remember it fondly, Bruce Sutter on the mound...Ozzie, Whitey, Keith Hernandez, George Hendricks, Darrell Porter, Tommy Herr and of course Willie McGee. Who can forget Glenn Brummer stealing home. What a season that was!
