Anybody want to help amputate a hand

Here is a link to a picture that I'd like some help with. I need to remove the hand but cannot figure out how to do it and make it look realistic. Part of the problem is how to replace the speckled floor; what I've tried so far gives me just a single color.

Any step by step suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Wayne,

I wouldn't try to remove the hand over the floor area by cutting it out...

Instead just make a selection of another part of the floor, feather with 1 pixel, then copy and paste it to hide the hand. While the patch is still selected make any adjustments to the lighting or colour to match.

I haven't time to do anything with the image but try this:

First crop as much of the hand out of the image as you can ...
then select an area of the floor to the left hand side of the hand ... edit>copy edit>paste and move the "patch over" part of the hand.
Carry on doing that until the hand is covered over.
Darken or lighten using levels and/or burn & dodge
Select the good foot and some of the serounding area and copy it onto a new layer
Distort the layer and move it into place ... trim it to fit :)
Create a new layer on top and set the clone tool to about 30% opacity and use it to blend in the floor.
Another new layer, zoom in very close and clone in the area around the foot.

It will take time ... but its possible :)

The floor will be fairly easy to fix, but the right foot shoe will be interesting. Do you have another photo with the right shoe? That would make it possible. Often we can clone similar objects and reposition, but a left shoe cloned to a right foot does not work too well due to the arch etc.. The leg should not be a problem to clone.
Just some ideas.

I have now had a chance to play with it ..

Cropped off some of the spare areas
Patched the floor
Cloned the leg
Duplicated the shoe, painted it a little and distorted a bit

The shoe could still do with a bit more work :)
