View Full Version : Reduce Noise Filter Broken??

Over on the Adobe forum several people have reported that the reduce noise filter doesn't work in PSE5. The strange thing is that mine seems to work just fine - although I don't use it (I have the Neat Image plug-in). Is anyone over here seeing a problem? Try putting Strength at 10 and Preserve Details at 0 and you should see a visible difference if it's working.

That's good - Barbara Brundage was one of the ones who said hers was broken which made me think there might be a problem.

Bayla... As much as Wendy loves her Mac. It seems that a PC lives in her home. So she does come over to our dark side occasionally. :p

Going over to the dark side is quite scary  so I try not to go there too often ...
... and apart from the scary side well the Mac is upstairs in the study and the dark side is downstairs in my husbands Radio Shack. So checking out the answer to a PSE5 question can take a few moments of running up and down stairs :D :D

So checking out the answer to a PSE5 question can take a few moments of running up and down stairs :D :D
And you still manage to answer most questions before many of us!!:) You must be really fit with all that running up and down stairs - that's an added benefit to having a PC that isn't often mentioned....maybe I should get a Mac installed in our loft?:D

Bayla ...
Oh the intel Macs you can run Windows and Mac OSX side by side ...
So I'm just waiting for the new MacBook Pro to arrive and then I will be able to have it on the desktop next to my own Mac :) That will make it a lot simpler ...
At the moment by the time I go downstairs, start up the PC, load Elements, check it out and come back upstairs ... someone else has answered the question :D

I find Gausian Blur Filter does a better job and provides more control. Once in a while I'll use Noise Ninja plug-in, but if they are that bad, it's my photography that needs adjusting!
Now that I;m doing microstock, I use levels, curves and Fausian Blur. I only use gausian blur if there is a solit color or sky showing noise; otherwise I limit adjustments to levels and curves.
