Am I missing the boat, in 4 when I wanted to make a copy of a couple prints to take some where to print or show, I just hit file >burn> copy. Version 5 seem to only let me back up my picture & once I do that I just have a thumbnail left. Can not seem to find any where on the help tutorial. it just talks about aschiving the file.

Hi Barb and welcome to the forum.

I can't help you but be patient, I am sure someone will come along shortly that can.

Hello Barb and welcome to the forum:

Isn't it fun learning new software?
See if this works for you:
Select the photos you want to use
Select File>Copy/Move Offline
On Screen 1, leave everything blank-you would fill this in if you want to Move the files offline and have proxy files.
On Screen 2, select your CD/DVD drive and it should copy your files. (At least my test worked).

One little hummer I did see-when burning to a CD, Version 5 seems to "close" the CD as previous versions, meaning you can not add additional files later. I think the Multi-Burn sessions is only for Backups, but I'll have to test this out.

Hope this helps and if any other users know other tips or gotchas, please jump in.

Ward: Edit>Preferences>Files and check the multi-session box and then it will create a multisession disc when you copy. I was puzzled too at first but found a brief note by searching the pdf manual - although I couldn't find it in the Help File.

Thanks Tony. Mine is checked, but I could not get it to work. More testing-1 of 30 days gone. So far, I like Version 5. Since the World Series game tonight looks like it will be rained out, it looks like it may be Playing With Levels tonight.

That's strange. I did test mine and it worked OK. When you burn to a previously burned disc it pops up a box telling you it's a multisession one.

Most people have a least some of the Nero burning suite on their computer and it is much easier to accomplish the task you are describing with Nero than PSEs burning engine. Prepare (size & whatnot) your photos and make a new folder for them. Let's call it photos to print. Then use "save as" to fill your new folder with the properly sized copy files. Don't down size a large file to make little 4" by 6" print. Open Nero and tell it you would like to burn a DATA ! CD. Nero "Smart Start" will open Nero Express for you. Then open your new folder in Windows Explorer and control click on each photo you would like to print. Then on the last photo you select hold the mouse button down and drag everything at one shot into the file field of the Nero window and click next >(new window) Uncheck "multi-session"(this is the finalize disc setting), then click burn. Many "open" CDs (unfinalized) will only work with the burner software that created them. But, most if not all digital Kiosks,(FUJI and such) will read a "closed" (finalized) CD-RW disc. Print your photos, then simply do a "quick erase" on the disk, when you need to use it over. PSE uses every trick in it's arsenal to control your catalogue and make certain it knows where every photo is. That philosophy extends to its' internal burner. This can be endearing but it's also quite annoying when all you want to do is make a few prints. If you're going to keep the discs you create this way for any length of time use CD-R discs. The rewriteable CD-RWs are of questionable long term stability.

Tony, an update-let's just say the original problems were likely Operator Error. I've been doing more testing with the trial version and I can now get a disk to take multiple burning sessions.
