I have saved thousands of pictures as PNG images prior to purchasing elements. They have already been given names. When I "Get Photo's" Is there any way to display their names as the captions without having to re-type all of them?

You mention two different aspects of your problem....Retaining the Filename and having the Filename as a Caption.
The filenames are preserved when the images are imported into the Organiser. It's possible that you haven't set the preferences up to be able to see them.
Open the Organiser and go to Edit > Preferences > General and check the box called 'Show Filename in Details'. This will then display the filename under the thumbnail in the organiser but very small thumbnails don't show them so you may need to just make them bigger using the slider at the bottom right.
Captions are a different item altogether and allow you to make more meaningful titles to your images. They have to be entered seperately for each image and dont change the filename.
