I took this picture at a wedding reception obviously..:)
I'd like to give it to my sister as it's her 3 kids, but I hate the busy background and I'd love to get rid of that sign on the middle boys chest.
Please??

Hi Steve,
Just a suggestion, and the photo of the '3' is a good one.A definite keeper(How often does one get 3 siblings together???)
Re: the sign in the middle of the chest...I would use the clone tool. and then use his shirt as the source to eliminate it.
Then for the background... select it and either...move every one to Paris ;) and the Eiffel tower..or...use a gaussian blur and down play it. Not sure if I even spelled the 'blur' corectly. It may help.
But do not fret...Those much brighter than I will be around with suggestios.

Hi Mary - I don't know what programme you have or what tools you have. I see in version 5 there is a magic extractor but I don't know how to use it. When I get photos like that I tend to blur the background or use the impressionist brush and just sort of smudge everything. What I want to say though is do work on the photo. My sister has three older kids and I find it impossible to get a photo of all three of them that is any good. To get them together is one thing but to get a good photo is even harder. Let us see what you come up with please.

Hi Mary
Here is a start...
Cropped the picture to a 4 by 6
I cloned out the sign on his chest
Added a shirt button area and seams from another picture off the net and blended with a distortion map and some shadow cloning.
Then I copied part of the table and shifted it to the left to cover that large candle... then cloned where it did not cover.
Finally I selected the foreground and blurred and darkened the background.
I am not good at all with creativity so I think you can do much better.

Butch, you did an awesome job with this and the one Norma posted earlier. I was trying to do what you did with this one but my program wasn't cooperating for some reason and kept freezing up. i would say you are creative to fix photos the way you do.

Butch:
You did an amazing job with that background. I am not surprised, however, you work is truly awe inspiring! I don't know how you do it!!!!
Great job!
Mary:
That is a terrific picture! Three siblings all smiling and happy?!?!?! Definitly a keeper!!! Great job, your sister will love it!!!!
EDIT: One suggestion: Now that Butch has that background so dark, would it work to clone the girl out behind the young man in the middle?????

Thanks it is a fun picture…. I wish I had one like that of my brothers
Once you isolate the background you can do most anything.

Great photo of 3 smiling siblings. I can see why you would want this for your sister. She will love it.
Great work Butch!! Wonder if you could use the burn tool to darken the background and give it a total black look for the background. Just a thought. Good luck with your photo.
