could use a little insight here. I am looking into the Organizer and cannot figure out how the program is picking dates.
For instance, I have photos that are dated 1/1/1980. Yet, there is not way they could have been taken at that time...since they are of my son who wasn't born until 1/2005.
If I look at the Metadata, it read that the file was created 10/15/2006, but then it also reads that it was updated 2/15/2006. How can it be updated before it was even created?
How can I have it update the date in which it's filed and get rid of the 1/1/1980.
Any assistance is appreciated. I am using the trial version of PSE5...and will purchase at the end of the trial.
Thanks!

Michellene: Can't help a whole lot as the way PSE handles dates has changed in 5 and I haven't yet got them all straight. But if you scroll down the metadata there are lots of dates and I think that PSE5 tries to use the one that best represents the "date picture taken". The problem is that some images aren't from the camera - a scanned image for example would likely use the scanned date which comes from the computer (and some computers don't show the right date). Some people don't set the right date on their cameras so PSE will use whatever date it finds. And some early digital cameras didn't record the date in the proper field.
The good news is that if you click on the date in Organizer you can change it to whatever you want.
I know with my camera the update date corresponds to the date the camera wrote it to the card and the create date corresponds to the date the file was uploaded to the PSE5 organizer. Once you start working on an image and resaving the dates can change again.
Hope this helps a bit and maybe someone has got it all figured out :)

If your on a Mac (especially the old ones) I know that sometimes the date gets screwed up. I'm not sure why, but I was hoping this could help you on your journey to finding the answer.

Ummm .... Only the Windows version has the organiser and PSE5 is Windows only :)

I asked this question a while back and didn't get any answers! I don't understand how I have some photos with a 'date modified' before a 'date created'....especially when I've done nothing to the image except import it directly to Organiser from my camera! Have also some images with a date in the future.... and others with dates from well before the picture was actually taken:eek:
Don't understand it at all.

Bayla,
You're right...
I don't know how the dates are getting messed up but it's annoying.
Considering I have files dated all the way back to 1923.
Considering I was born LONG after that, well, I don't have any photos of anyone dating back that far...
*grin*
It's a pain to change each one...
