This is the carousel at Oaks Amusement Park. The park has been in Portland since 1905, the carousel followed in 1912.

Had to submit a second entry, as this just came out of storage today. You only get to ride in it on special occasions and its being cleaned and polished to be driven in the Santa Claus parade in November. It will hopefully be moved to it's new home next year....an old fashion firehall building is being moved/built at our museum. The museum is designed like a small town/village in days gone by...(general store, blacksmith shop, church, school, hotel, homes etc.). We are also just about finished restoring a second one, which is older then this one. One day I hope to have both side by side to take a picture

Well here's something to ride you don't see everyday. My neighbor uses this in parades. He also has a giant Elvis but I couldn't get the picture without getting some of his more bizarre stuff in the same picture. Bizarre - yes he rides this dressed as Carmen Miranda!

OK.. I will admit to cheating. I took this last week but did not download it until today. Still counts right? :p

I used a Contrast Masking Sharpening technique from my Photos Pop Class. Duplicated and changed the blend mode to Overlay. I am kinda proud of what I ended up with so I am posting my before and after. :)

Can you see a big difference???
