View Full Version : Changing the color of a whole kit

Ok, so I designed a kit and then decided I wanted to change the color theme from pinks to blues.
I can't figure out a way to recolor it as a lot - tried having all pieces of the kit on one composite page, but that didn't work. (Although I could change each piece and make sure it matched up.)
I was thinking if I could change it as a lot then it would be a lot easier to make seperate boy & girl kits without having to recolor each item individually.
Anyone have any ideas on how it could be done?

Hi Jane ...
If you are going to use the items individually then wouldn't you normally save them all as separate jps, gifs anyway?? ... or do you save yours as psd files ??

They are all saved seperately - I was just trying to find a way to recolor the whole lot of them at once.

I actually did this with a set I designed. I did a hue/sat adjustment layer above one and noted the settings when I got the color I wanted. Then I adjusted each subsequent page with a hue/sat layer using the same settings and it worked like a charm. I had to bump a couple one or two in one direction or the other but it worked with no problem. Just flatten the image before you save it and it holds your new colors.

Hi Jane ...
I do mine in just the same way as Nancy ...
... when they are all saved in separate files there isn't a way to recolour them all at once :)

Can you just drag the adjustment layer to the other photo/object??
Or am I mixing this up with something else?

Hi Gary ...
Yes you can do that but you would still have to adjust the colour slightly to match them in (it doesn't always work on the same settings) then flatten them and resave.
Its actually quicker to write down the settings and just do it as a H&S on the layer itself rather than using an adjustment layer :)

Wendy is right, easier to just make sure you have the same H&S settings. Which is what I eventually did.
