Hi all,

I'm running PSE3. I've just installed Camera RAW 3.5 , and have a most peculiar problem.

All the portrait format images (RAW files) I've recently loaded into Organiser seem to be losing the record of their orientation. What's more, their thumbnails in Organiser are an amalgam of a correct, portrait image with a landscape version (rotated 90deg right) superimposed on top.

I can clear this effect by selcting the images concerned, rotating them 90deg left, then undoing the rotation. All then appears OK.

I've never seen this before - it started immediately I loaded RAW3.5. I've rolled back to the prior version, but now the effect persists. Any ideas?

Nick

P.S. I should add that when I open the images in Editor (i.e. invoking Camera RAW), their orientation is correct !

Whew! All is now well. It turned out that there was a known problem in handling rotated RAW images in Camera RAW 3.5 with versions of PSE earlier than 5.0.

The solution was to rollback to an earlier version of Camera RAW, but then also to delete the thumbnail cache, forcing it to be rebuilt.

In case anyone has a similar problem, the details are here:

The notes don't describe the particular peculiar corruption of thumbnails I was seeing, but who cares? It's fixed. And apparently all will be well when I upgrade to PSE5!
