Take a look at this plug-in. It's fun, practicle and works very good. Download the .zip file and unzip it in the plugin folder. Load an image in PSE, click on filter and it should showup at the bottom of the dropdown window.

I use it for black and white mostly.

Thanks for the link Foxhound ... just a shame they are Windows only http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/ubb/frown.gif

Good link for brushes, styles etc (they should work in both Windows and Mac):

The Series 23 brushes for hair and fur are amazing. There is also a tutorial showing you how to use them.

Thanks Foxhound for the link -

The Optic Verve labs link looks really promising - I will test the plug in and report back. I have been interested in new ways to create black and white from color photo's.

For those of you looking at the site, check out the samples.

Foxhound,

Yet another Windows only link ~ lol... bummer.

Wendy,

I just read some of that newsletter you had in that 2nd post... very cool. Have you installed the tools and compared them to their PS CS versions? What are the differences?
You definitely have a constant supply of good links, Wendy.

Anyone,

Can anyone tell me if the options in mode submenu within the image menu have increased from Elements 2 to 3? And if so, what is new modes are available?

Toying with Modes,

Playing with a GIF of mine, I made a duplicate of the picture, then selected Indexed in the Mode sub-menu of the Image menu. I selected Mac colors as the option for the Indexed colors I wanted. My picture instantly changed from a white award certificate to a black and gold like certificate.

After http://www.woodwinds.us/osx/pictures/gif/october2004-2.gif

Anyone,

Has any one found plugins that are free and work on both mac and pc?

ps- i have no idea who that Brian Durham character is in those gifs

Southpaw,

Must be a year since I installed Richard's tools to PSE2 (PSE3 version isn't out yet) they are good and add quite a bit of functionality to Elements. Some work in a different way to full Photoshop but general they achieve the same end result.

Although these aren't plugin's they are the next best thing. Recipes! They were originally written for Elements 2 but the author said they will work in version 3 also.

AND...Mac users can use these too!

(See, I looking out for Mac's too)

Thanks for the link Foxhound ... and for looking out for the Mac users http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/ubb/smile.gif

I was looking for some fonts the other day and came across this site. Its a good source of free ones:

AND PS has updated his tools for PSE3:

Hey y'all,

When you all are looking for plug-ins, consider going to Googles advanced search for different options. There's a Google for mac to search for all things mac, as well as other specific engines.

I downloaded the below link provided by Foxhound - seems to work fine with Elements 3.0, and there are quite a few effects that some may find useful.

Just a thought:

Does everyone know about Adobe Studio Exchange ... its a great place to seek out brushes, custom shapes, textures, gradients etc.

Most things will work in Elements (except Actions) ... so download a few and try them out.
